So the drunk uncle video apparently didn't take very well.  The title said I'm leaving but I figured people would read the post and watch the video and catch the joke.

 

Wow.  At least 2 of you did lol.

 

So I propose a badge, let's have a "I've been in the doghouse" badge for those of us that somehow manage to get a thread locked in under 5 minutes.  On a side note, nice response time Mods, you operate quicker than the local fire and rescue teams.

I just found it interesting that it was locked without explanation and it seems it was locked without even bothering to watch the video or read the message to catch the joke.  I wasn't aware this was meant to be such a sterile forum, especially with some of the lightheartedness that seems to take place.

Sarcasm over the internet without a tonal indication is always very hard to distinguish. It's like saying: Fags should all be burned. Hurr Durr. JK. I don't hate fags. Or gays. Don't worry, I'm not homophobic. Plus the topic wasn't funny at all?:(

The difference is that I'm referencing common knowledge, a joke easily understood, where as your entire thread does not.

Making a thread about a closed thread and throwing in sarcasm in the OP is completely idiotic.

 

And yes, you SHOULD avoid sarcasm unless it's mild (i.e. EA is my favorite company), if you don't think it's clear find some way to indicate that it is sarcasm, for future reference.

 

Shame a flame war seems it's about to start, hopefully this thread will be locked soon as well.

Nevermind, I seriously can't believe no one caught it.  I thought this was an IT crowd.  At least all of us (the datacenter) thought it was funny.  I'll just go back to cracking fart jokes rather than posting something that requires some inference to get.  The tone was conveyed in the video, the reference was in the post.

 

I'll just drop it.  Considering likening trolls in forum topics is just like killing gays, I'll make sure to avoid it altogether.

I locked it because yes, even though this is off topic, threads should have some sort of significance. They shouldn't just be spammed as they currently are. I'm not solely talking about you, quite a few people are guilty of it.
