290x vs 980ti?

xnoobftw

Throw out the res. A 980ti almost as fast as 290X in SLI. And if you can sell your 290X for $300, then DO IT!

My thought process is like a better card will come out if i just hold off longer... But the resale value of 290x will fall tho D: IDK WHAT TO DO SHOULD I DO IT

I need to watch shia's video to muster my courage

LLOLOOLOL xD

Both Nvidia and AMD use SLI, only AMD is fancy to name it Crossfire, just like they call Adaptive V-SYNC "FreeSync"

But i'll be using the 980ti on 1080p... Would you still go with a 980ti @ 1080p? I dont need it but i certainly do want it~

Even though I said to go with the 980 Ti, do you feel you need to upgrade? Are you happy with your 290X? Ultimately it's your decision and if you are fine with the 290X, why upgrade?

Adaptive Sync and Adaptive V-Sync are completely different technologies. If you want to play games with names of technologies, neither company uses SLI or Crossfire.

SLI is the official term which Nvidia still uses, but AMD named it crossfire.

That's what I learned on Reddit and you known how trustworthy Reddit is ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Oh and here is the game in 5K, damn that looks good for 2010:

Get glorious Acer XB270HU.

Can somebody btw explain me how PC Gaming is better then console if only 1.17% people play on a 1440P monitor and 0.07% on 4K? We been stuck with 1080P/60FPS for like 5 years now.

Apple released their 2560x1600 30 inch monitor in freaking 2003 lol. People need to stop buying GPU's and upgrade their monitors.

The only reason I'm not laughing in your face right now is because of Crysis 3. If you think that spending a tonne of money on being able to play at slightly better settings in that game and probably that game alone at 1080p (since both of your monitors are 60Hz there is no fps benefit) then sure go for it.

If you don't think one game and a slightly better preset is worth it, then don't bother.

4K DSR on 1080P monitor looks awesome, I've used to play Witcher 3 at 1440P on my 1080P monitor when I had my 290.

Somehow Witcher 3 has one of the worst anti-aliasing ever created.

And consoles are still stuck at 720p @30FPS on some games.

I still find hilarious how professional console players buy these expensive 144hz monitors to play the game below 30 fps... Sure the low response time is great but its still funny.

Which ones? We laugh at console players for having shitty resolution and framerate while everyone is stuck with mostly crappy TN 1080P 60hz screens. While all those 970's and 290's and 390's can do 1440P and sometimes 4K without a problem.

I've used to play lots of games yes including new ones like GTA V when it came out and then Witcher 3 later on in 4K on my R9 290 at stock clocks without any problems

Haven't we been through this today already? OP would be much better off putting that money into either a higher res or higher refresh-rate monitor than a GPU for 4K just for some fancy Anti-aliasing.

I know what The Witcher 3 is like at 4K. I know the framerate I get from two 970s in SLI at ultra settings with Hair Works etc on. It's in the 40s. If I had a single 290X, which is basically a 970 at stock, I would not be pissing away resources on super-sampling.

A delta of 450SGD? What's the actual price you're buying the 980 ti at?

i5 2400 | ASUS RTX 4090 TUF OC | Seasonic 1200W Prime Gold | WD Green 120gb | WD Blue 1tb | some ram | a random case
