i would, but im not you so i cant decide that for you. At the end of the day it really just comes down to what you play, setting you play at, and fps you want.

I run my own indie game company called Color Dragon Studios where we are currently making a 2d platformer game called Small Earth.

290X will be gr8 for 1080p for a bit to come, just save up now, sell your 290X for whatever you can down the line, then get a newer card when youve actually got a good use for it :P

I'd go with the 980 Ti. That being said, people might say "Have you seen the DX12 benchmarks with the 290X?" Yes I have. A couple things need to be stated about that: 1.) It's one game. 2.) DX12 is not going to have widespread adoption out of the gate. Think about the current situation....How many games use DX12? That was released around 2009 and yet most games rely on DX9 and DX10 which were released around 2002 and 2007 respectively. NVIDIA optimized their architectures for serial based operations because that's how every DirectX revision has worked, including DX11. They may have predicted with Maxwell that DX12 wouldn't have widespread adoption out of the gate and it won't just like DX11 didn't and doesn't.

What a joke, can a 290X do 5K 144FPS? Well I don't think so.

I was thinking i'll upgrade when 4k becomes the norm but it's a 980ti for 950$SGD! :D (it goes for 1.2k SGD here for a new one)

Yeah, if i'm not mistaken from your original post, a 980Ti for $320 USD.... HELL YEAH

But it's a lightly used 980ti from MSI tho...

No card can.

That's bullshit again, my 980Ti does 144FPS at 5K DSR in some games.

Currently replaying Mafia 2 because 3 got announced only getting 75FPS at 5K with HBAO on, 90-95 with HBAO off.

Throw out the res. A 980ti almost as fast as 290X in SLI. And if you can sell your 290X for $300, then DO IT!

Crossfire. Not SLI.

Yes, lets waste cash on a performance gain i will literally not be able to notice. Great plan. lmao

People egging others to spend cash on something that they not only don't need but will literally not change anything for them...smh
