i would suggest going with the sapphire 380 its next gen model of the 200 series and it has the 4gb for future games that require more then 3gb of vram

IM UNLUCKY AS F***

LOL. Why so worried? Anyway It is true that AMD cards have a larger cpu overhead but the AMD card you are(planning on) running here is a 280x which is not very powerful in todays standards. The cpu doesn't have to feed so much instructions to its 2048 shading units.

So relax... The i3 + the 280x is going to serve you just fine...

i5 2400 | ASUS RTX 4090 TUF OC | Seasonic 1200W Prime Gold | WD Green 120gb | WD Blue 1tb | some ram | a random case

They will all work fine with the OP's system, within a small margin.

Personally, I would go with the Sapphire R9 380. Not because it's the fastest of the bunch (it's not, the 280x is a bit faster) but because it's a newer architecture that AMD will be supporting for a longer period of time. It will also run a bit cooler and quieter (if that's important to you).

@Marcelo Delicia - There are a lot of people in this community and all with differing opinions. So when you present list of GPUs to choose from and ask which is best, you're going to get all kinds of conflicting answers/suggestions/opinions. Of the 3 you listed, the 280x is the fastest (not by a lot) and also the most expensive. The Sapphire Nitro is the best of the 380's, and both the Gigabyte and Sapphire 380's are newest in terms of tech. All perform very similarly and all will suit your system just fine. So it's ultimately up to you to choose the one you like most with the features you value the most. If you want to spend the least, get the Gigabyte 380. If you want the newest/best quality card, get the Sapphire 380 Nitro. If you want pure performance, get the Sapphire 280x.

We can't tell you which card to get. You have to decide that for yourself. ;)

BTW, how old is your PSU and is it at least 80+ bronze?

EDIT* Any reason you're only looking at AMD cards? The GTX 960 offers some compelling features and performance in this price range as well...

280X beats 380 by a lot.

Not really by a lot. A 280 equals a 7950. A 285 is therefore between a 7950 and a 7970, theres not a big difference between the two in the first place, you have no problem oc'ing a 7950 to match a 7970
