GTX Titan X vs 2x GTX 980Ti?

Go to solution Solved by tomas710,

What would be best for my upcoming build? One GTX Titan X or 2x GTX 980Ti in SLI? I do a lot of rendering and doing general production with Adobe Creative Cloud apps. I do play games but it's not the priority for this build.

i7 5960X

Gigabyte GA-X99-UD5

32GB Kingston HyperX

?Titan X or 2x 980Ti?

Thanks

Honestly, a 980 ti is not that different from a Titan X, the 12 gig memory buffer is almost the only difference, if you can afford it, yeah, 2 980 tis would be amazing, stay away from the titan x, it makes no sense, way too expensive, offers nothing useful over the 980 ti.

The 2x 980Ti's will definetely provide better performance. Don't know if what you do requires alot of Vram in which case the Titan X would be better.

Titan's are market names like Apple. Get the Ti's.

Primary: Lenovo T61 / Intel Core2Duo T7200 @ 2.2GHz / 3GB DDR2 / NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M / Fedora 22 <<<< THE WHITE KNIGHT

Secondary: Compaq Presario CQ56 / AMD V130 @ 2.3GHz / 2GB DDR3 / AMD Radeon HD 4250 / Windows 8.1 <<< THE FORGOTTEN HERO

980Ti X2 for sure.

it'll pretty much destroy the TItan X no matter what

unless you use something using over 6gb vram.

Whatever's cheaper, to be honest.

No. You are flat out wrong. Whatever is cheaper would apply if the 2 setups had similar performance; two 980TIs will DESTROY a single Titan X in pretty much everything other than like extreme CAD which would use 12GB of memory.

Don't buy a Titan X only for professional work, its not designed for that.  Buy a Quadro, your paying for reliability and better memory .

Silicon lottery.  It can be overclocked better, just like a Titan X can be overclocked.
