I'm specifically referring to the "live Twitter blitz" segment. The chat was extremely obnoxious and repulsive towards every guest who sat before the camera. I'm ashamed to be associated with these individuals in the sense that we're both LTT fans. That is all.

I knew something like this would happen. Look at every convention made by the internet. People who use the internet and gather in these groups are socially awkward. Not to say every one here is but many people on the internet are a bit off and they find comfort on the internet. With social issues comes cringe jokes and other remarks. Every has there group they fall into and feel comfortable in it and that is all right. Just realize the internet isn't just celebrities and popular kids at your school.

What's the bet that most of those comments are from guys ranging in age from 15-25?  It's a combination of attention-seeking and a lack of a fully developed pre-frontal cortex.

 

Sound judgement doesn't kick in for many males until mid-late 20's when brain development is complete, and a bit of experience tempers outbursts.

 

Yeah, I thought it was pretty sad as well.  Those guys who sat with Linus are the audience that make this all possible.  I'm proud of them for having the guts to sit in front of such a massive crowd of viewers, and there were a lot of great questions.

I don't mind anything in jest, but there were deliberate hateful comments when the bigger fellas appeared on camera.

Not to be rude or something, but, like, I don't really care, all of us get crap about the way we look, and if you can't learn to deal with it at some point, you're just showing zero tolerance. I get shit about looking like Gaben because I'm a little on the heavier side. In the end people are going to be arseholes, whether it be because they're insecure about themselves, or they just are. People find it easier to talk smack on the internet so they just will.

Most of the people on the live show asking questions would have probably made horrendous comments too: anonymity does weird things to people. Being social animals there's a lot of things that go into civilized behavior and it all goes out the window if you remove some components: kinda like that experiments in which normal people were assigned roles of prison guards and inmates and they soon started to become extremely abusive towards inmates for no other reason that the fact that they had power over them.
