Am I the only person who never really had problems with Vista?

I used Vista Home Basic on a machine with less than a Gig of RAM and had no issues whatsoever.

And our lord has spoken about vista.

Don't get rid of Vista, just learn how to use a PC properly...

Shots fired and all that, but really, there isn't a huge amount wrong with Vista once you update it past SP1. Can you name any specific issues with the PC? If so think about if they are hardware related or possibly caused by the user.

If you want to upgrade it to Windows 7 for them then do. They look pretty similar and they could probably learn 7 pretty easily coming from Vista.

I had a Vista laptop for several years and it did really well despite my terrible treatment of it and poor hardware specs. Vista isn't all that bad, Really.

So for years my gran has been using vista on her laptop as we all know vista is bad, she will come and say the internet is not working (it is) to go downstairs to find her pc is working but vista is just crashing programs. I have told her she needs to move to 7 because vista is just crap and i will do it for her for free to which i get the response "but it does not normally do this" which again i know to be bs as she often sits there saying "come on" to her computer.

So how do you convince someone to upgrade from vista who is not tech savvy?

i have use Vista a long time and i like it  :)

but time pass and i start looking "new" options

keep in mind that Vista was made before the 1080p monitors

(and before a lot of new programs that are common now)

and i find many cool options on linux

(10% good ones, 90% bad ones)

one of the best i find (and test) is this one

"Linux Mint" 17.2 "Xfce"

This basically.

Vista was everything Win7 should have been.  A good looking UI (much better than the cheap monochrome taskbar icons and the glass shit they did in Win7) and insanely powerful if you knew what you were doing.

Sure, it had its issues when it was launched, but those weren't anywhere near as catastrophic as most of the Win10 troubleshooting posts I'm seeing here.

I still have it on my 7 year old low-end netbook (Packard Bell ZG5) and it's pretty zippy still.

Vista wasn't bad. It got an unfairly bad reputation due to very poor 3rd part drivers and OEMs selling 'vista capable' machines with <2gb ram

Though it is certainly dated these days.

I ran Vista for years on my now much older machines back when they were new and I rarely encountered problems but when I did they were terrible. I recommend upgrading to Windows 7 without her knowing for her own sake.

Leave it alone. Trust me. If even a single UI element has moved five pixels to the left she'll no longer know how to use the entire computer and it'll all be your fault. I know Windows 7 does not look that different but old people always seem to find a stumbling block.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

Windows Vista SP2 isn't bad it is more stable then Windows 8.1 (for me) so just let her stay in Windows Vista for now, she will have to upgrade when Windows Vista loses support in 2017
