Why are Apple routers such cancer to setup?

No matter how many units I buy, they never work properly. And the slightest change makes them go haywire. It finds my internet after every factory reset, but it can't find it again if power goes out. It's happened with every Apple router I've owned. Am I just getting unlucky with my units? I'm about ready to give up an buy something else. Anyone has experience with Apple routers?

I find them really easy and very reliable? so that strange - all of the airport utility stuff is easy

Might just be your internet connection. I've installed 10 apple routers in 2015 and only one problem.

 

Then again, I've installed 19 ASUS routers and there have been zero complaints.

Never used one of their routers, but I always found server networking stuff difficult on OSX (did a little bit of networking/server stuff on Mac mini's at school)

Then again, I've installed 19 ASUS routers and there have been zero complaints.

I used a T-Mobile cell spot with my network, that doesn't seem to have any problems, it's just ugly imo so I don't want to use it.

When it's actually working I love it, it's just giving me issues for some reason. I buy them because I think they look the best, performance isn't shabby either.

that often happens with cheaper units (well at least for me when someone ask me why their home network is wonky)

some of router won't dial if the internet goes out a moment, usually problem solved with firmware updates, you might want try to do that.

 

I don't see any reason why people need to buy apple router when there's a tons other better option out there, and ofcourse cheaper.

Lang router cheaper than apples offering is usually crap. Apple routers are decent for the price you pay, I'm just guessing I have terrible luck with them.

Yeah they are just awful in terms of opening ports. I tried I got 3rd party software to do it.

It is indeed tricky to setup some times. When you can't setup an Apple router the best you can do is contact Apple Support and ask for a replacement. Most of the times it will work immediately.

No matter how many units I buy, they never work properly. And the slightest change makes them go haywire. It finds my internet after every factory reset, but it can't find it again if power goes out. It's happened with every Apple router I've owned. Am I just getting unlucky with my units? I'm about ready to give up an buy something else. Anyone has experience with Apple routers?

 

I would suspect you're doing it wrong :P
