How do you feel about the subreddit bans?

What do you think about reddit banning various subreddits? Ones they have recently banned include /r/FatPeopleHate, /r/ShitNiggersSay, /r/lolicons, and many more. Personally I think that it's bad in every way. It's bad for reddit in that it just makes the posters spread out, instead of all being in one place. I also don't think that they should be banning anything that people are saying, as reddit is (or at least was) made for free conversations without censorship.

Not my problem, Don't use reddit, never will. 

It is freedom of speech,  specific hate threads on certain people shouldn't be aloud, certain groups, yes. But specific people in general no.

I was listening to the podcast hello internet earlier and I agree with Grey.

It is good that we're getting rid of them but they will still exist and spread.

I also think that free speech should have limits like it does in the UK. You are not allowed to be a member of banned hate groups such as WBC, KKK, ISIS etc and you can't publish hate towards groups or individuals because of their ethnicity, disability, religion etc.

Why are you surprised? It's easy to find this type of thing if you know where to look. It isn't actual children, so I don't see the problem.

You know, as much as I would love to say "you can say whatever you want, something freedom of speech" there really is no "freedom of speech" on the internet, it really boils down to what the site owners/mods/whoevers decide what goes. In the case of those 3 subreddits you listed, I really think they should have been banned since they really are distasteful and tear people apart, rather than promoting a positive environment(and to add to lolicons, this should have never been allowed in the first place, since that's just fucked up).

Yeah better to let them see drawn images than to try and turn to actual CP. Then again maybe I am wrong and images that harm no one actually are bad for some reason.

Okay I see your point about /r/fatpeoplehate being negative and hurtful towards people but if they simply don't go there or acknowledge it is there then no issue but they make it an issue by letting them feed off of their hate/feelings toward the sub. People complain and bitch about too much.

Maybe he looked up what it was about before posting without knowing fully what it is. If he did a search to find info about it no issue. Just because something is law does not make it right. Time to not be a sheep and think about it yourself and come up with your own opinion not just go with what a law says.

My opinion, and one that is shared by many others is that child porn is wrong.
