I found it really difficult to get the game to run past 3.5GB at 1080p even with every setting cranked up to full. If you increase the resolution the GPU doesn't really have enough power for max settings anyway. The times when the game did run up at 3.6GB/3.7GB I didn't get any stuttering or anything major.

 

1080p max settings should be fine, moreso with an overclock

Will I be able to run GTA V with mods on a GTX 970? Also will play online, what are the maximum settings I can get to with GTX 970 in GTA V without passing 3.5gb vram?

even if you pass the 3.5 GB, you can still play it perfectly fine, and not it has 4 Gb nor 3.5 gb

It's 4gbs. The last .5 just isn't as fast as it should be but some people reported not having that problem. Probably high settings with like MSAA on 2x

Depends on the mods like always. Is easy to reach 3.5GB.

LTT's fastest Valley 970, slowest Valley Basic and Extreme HD scores

Not an issue. Like ALL games on the 970. 1080p is NO issue.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

i have a gtx 770 , setting say im using 2.6/2GB of Vram , no stuttering, textures maxed, shadows high,also reflection, shadows sharp, grass normal (too demanding), advanced settings OFF,MSAA 2x (with/without FXAA /TXAA , sometimes off or on ,looks better ,sometimes not for me lol, takes ,idk like 2 fps),

60+ fps all the time (average 75?)

 

you will first run out of performance than VRAM, like people above sad

with mods , depends what mods , texture mods would probobly take like 3 fps , and more Vram

you will turn on 802173459834765 GTX V mods and the game will run at very low FPS (e.g. under 20). But at the same time your VRAM won't be filled up yet.
