I'm making plans to build a LED aspheric thrower, and I see a lot of people using the XP-G2 since its a really small die.

 

Would an XP-e2 would better since its even smaller? or is the lumen output too low to make good lux?

Well I have a nice Mini Maglite. Those are pretty damn sturdy if I say so myself. This little baby fell a good 20 FT and she is still running to this day, although the connection is kinda funky, so I had to place in some foil to have a strong connection to the battery, other then that it works fine

anyone mind suggesting me a red light / white light small and durable flashlight? something that is not expensive?

My Preon 2 has the XP-G2. Isnt the XP-E2 smaller? I see the XP-E2 output is only about half the lumens of the G2. I would think you would want to do the math on output/area. Whatever gets you more light per unit area is going to make for a "brighter" thrown beam.

Another silly question. Not really about a flashlight but more about accessories.

 

I know there are headbands that you can use to attach onto a ordinary flashlight. Can anyone recommend any good ones that aren't too expensive from ebay and such?

Not really an enthusiast, but I do carry a LED Lenser T5.2 on a daily basis. And whenever you leave it behind, then you really miss having it. And with it only using a single AA battery means that you can get a fresh battery in pretty much any store.

 

A whole lot of people neglect the usefulness of a dedicated flashlight and say "Oh, I don't need a special flashlight. My phone has one!", even @LinusTech does. And I have been pestering him some to get a couple to feature on "Handy Tech for under $100".
