For those who have Gunnar glasses

AustinTheIntern

Hey guys,

I was wondering if the little zoom can mess with your vision if you have 20/20.

Isn't it just like wearing glasses when you do not need to?

No, they shouldn't effect anything as they are designed for 20/20 vision, they really help with eye strain for me

the reason wearing the wrong glasses is bad is because your eyes strain to adapt to their magnification

IE a short sighted person wearing the wrong glasses will really strain the eyes

I thought it was bad for us 20/20 people to wear glasses, though?  (with a magnification that we do not need)

And so how does our eyesight not adapt to the magnification of the gunnars then?

In my opinion Gunnars aren't worth the money, if you want yellow lenses just buy a cheap pair off shooting glasses such as http://www.amazon.com/Remington-Shooting-Glasses-Amber-Black/dp/B000F7VV42

They are not just yellow glasses, they actually magnify content meaning your eyes can relax

I was sceptical and I got a pair half price last year in a sale, and if I am having a long day and feel tired/headachy they really help eye strain

Understand about the magnification, I have used them extensively. The way I look at it is simple, if you need the magnification, make the text a larger size, the gunnars can actually give you a headache if you use them and then take them off and look at other things (along with a slight sense of vertigo), further their cost does not justify their benefit (in my opinion). Basic shooting glasses with yellow lenses provide almost all of the same features and often are made to fit over prescription glasses as well and cost far less (10-30 usd on amazon).

I paid like £40 for mine with a nice case, they are optically very nice, and are really nicely built with nice metal frames

They dont give me headaches or hurt my eyes, ive owned them nearly 2 years now

uh...

what? saying "uh..." doesn't really help me understand

Yeah I meant normal corrective glasses, these are not corrective just magnification, the issue only happens when a short/long sighted person wears the wrong prescription or somebody with perfect vision wears corrected lenses

all these do is apply like 0.1 to each eye they shouldnt effect long term vision , at least as far as any research  I have done

I have a pair of gunnars prescription glasses. They cost a ton... but I've gotten my use out of them, I wear them all the time now.

To bad the alternative options are either not suitable or don't exist...
