290x/390/970 (1080p/60Hz)

Colours

Was looking into getting a new GPU, the 290x/390/970 are all around the exact same price of around $420-430. Currently gaming on a 1080p/60Hz monitor, it just seems these cards are all in the same performance range? Not sure which one would be better..

If you look around you can find R9 290x's for quite cheap on clearance for a lot lower, and if you can get it for about 50$ less than a 970 then get it.

Otherwise 970

The 970 is only $350, sometimes less, so I would say go with that

Pro Tip: don't use flash when taking pictures of your build; use a longer exposure instead. Prop up your camera with something (preferably a tripod) if necessary.

if you use retarded/autistic/etc to mean stupid please gtfo

For you I'd say 290x. My reasoning is so you have a little bit more money with you to upgrade that cpu so you stop bottlenecking the GPU.

Go with 970

AMD cards at $300 price range consume more power and run at higher temperaures. It's not worth buying 290X for lesser price or 390 for your gaming resolution (3.5Gb memory issue won't be a problem for 1080P gaming)

why would you get an 8gb 290x for 1080p?

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

bigger textures in the future. And its not much more. Then it is really similar to the 390x.

by the time we have textures that sioze the 290x will be too slow to use them.

Oh well for an extra few quid it is worth it for the next year or two.

Again, no. It would be a waste of money. Especially since the 970 is often faster at 1080p.

I guess we all have opinions.

fact - it performs worse

fact - it's more expensive

no opinions to be had.
