A cheap caselabs like case for air cooling?

Hi guys, I'm considering getting a new case. It needs to be a mid tower, because I have an atx motherboard. I love the look of caselab cases but buying one is useless for me considering my build is air cooled . . . I'm after something like caselabs/corsair 450d/corsair air 540 but I haven't been able to find anything. Also preferably under $150.

There aren't that many cases with the 'Caselabs look' out there that would fit into your budget, beyond what you've mentioned already. You might want to wait until some of the Thermaltake cases that were announced at Computex get released considering their more than slight resemblance to Caselabs' offerings... Anyway, the closest I can recommend is the Lian Li PC-A04B or the PC-9FB. A lot of Lian Li's higher end cases look very similar to Caselab's, but considering that they are well built, large aluminium towers you can expect Caselabs-esque pricing.

I found an old case lying around, so I'm considering stripping all the outside off and modding the frame . . .

It's completely up to you. It'll be a lot of work, but sounds like an interesting idea.

Can always go with a fractal r5. Never a bad choice. Not a caselabs lookalike. And btw anyone that intentionally buys the thermalfake cases specifically to be cheaper knockoffs like they are deserves public shaming. In my opinion. But hey I'm not a major caselabs guy anyways.

It's not the same look. It's similar, but if they're going to offer competitive pricing with a similar look, then it's on CaseLabs to do something. It's literally a metal box though, how different can it be?

You're not gonna really find any mid towers with a caselabs looks, Caselabs is pointless unless you want to burn money on a unnecessary high end EATX fully watercooled build.

The best mid tower to get that still has ODDs is the Fractal Design R4/R5.
