A lot of people are speculating it's an R9 290X 8GB flashed in a 390x.

Nice, although AMD will have PR and Marketing release dates which would stop linus from releasing such videos unless he wants to jeopardize his relationship with them.

Helpful optimist by day, Troll by night

Every second video I unsub from Linus cos he tells me to hit the subscribe button on each video!!!

I've already bought a 390X from BestBuy and sold it to my cousin for double :D. He has no idea what he's doing and thinks he's "getting in on the market"

24 fps for that "cinematic" feel

After a couple weeks of behavioral sciences at my school I can easily conclude my parents need to grow up.

Don't bother. It's not worth the cash, linus'll be given one for free eventually anyway. He honestly probably has one

Eh. Don't bother. I'm sure that Linus will just walk into NCIX or anywhere and buy a copy himself if it comes down to it. And as for it just being a R9 290X with twice the vRAM and higher clock speeds. Yeah, it's pretty much just that.

Which is really shitty, a extra vram 290x is not what AMD needs right now :(

Hence is why there is another card being announced on the 16th.

Speculate? You don't have to, it is. My R9 390 is just a 290 with 8GB.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

Why would you spend that much money just to send it to Linus? Really, why would you spend that much money on that card at all?

The 290x was a new card. I think you are thinking of the 280x.

I was talking about giving a card 8GB of VRAM. 290X 8GB version is already a thing, and they're rebranding it with the 390X.

I Wanted to buy card as I haven't seen 1 in Australia and it's not released yet. I'm not a fan of AMD and there going bankrupt. There not going to be doing gpu for much longer in my opinion because yeah they might bring a card out thats faster then the titan but I bet any money nvidia will have another card lined up that will beat that. Yeah there cheaper but they got to sell a lot more and be cheaper to drive nvidia down in price but AMD is on borrowed money and in few years will stop making cards and the growth of gpu will slow down because there's no comp. If AMD is smart they will sell there blueprints to custom board makers like msi to make more sales. So they have more revenue to produce/develop better house there on right track by producing HBM but nvidia is soon manufacturing and adapting the HBM as well so AMD HAS no chance at gaining in the market as they only hold less then 30%.

while it's a very kind gesture Linus will receive a test sample.

he probably already has 1 or 2 but cannot disclose due to NDA.

it was funny how a few weeks ago on the wan show he was talking about the 980ti rumor and 2 days later he had a test video out!

I find it strange to hear someone brag about that, pretty a-hole move IMO.

Not completely double, I sold it to him for $700. I asked him to name his price and that's what he said.

Best Buy screwed up and put them up for sale before the time, and they were 450$. It's a rebranded 290X, not the all new Fiji. Don't buy at that price.

I read that the cards currently at best buy are being sold WAY above their MSRP.
