XDDDD

I can very much understand such a sleek and nice product

but please

you buy the frikkin thin laptop because it is thin and not bulky

and then you add another 80 dollar big bulky thing to it........

this defeats the purpose of the device

not that I was a fan of it in the first place, Surface Pro 3 ftw

Bulky enough to make you wish you'd gotten a macbook air instead

Yes I agree it is much better than that, it also looks a lot sleeker, it certainly is a nice device

but needing it in the first place is my biggest problem with it.

And it might be less bulky than 2 million other adapters, that doesn't change that it is still bulky.

Don't forget it can be used with other type C devices other than the Mac.

looks neat. personally though, owning two macbooks pros. at any given moment i am only every using zero of my ports. I use my macbook pro as it was intended, to be MOBILE. at the end of the day, i plug my macbook pro in to charge and use my desktop to finish my day. from my perspective there is not a port issue. personally i am wondering what people are doing that they are using all the ports all the times. are they using a macbook as a desktop? are they using an after market keyboard and mouse, do they lug these around with them? seriously, I dont see a port issue. back to the product in question, it does look nice and looks to gave good functionality and would probably be on my list of things to buy or give as a gift.

Will become obsolete when the next generation MacBook is released.

You don't seem to understand that Apple hates cables. The macbook is for basic users. No ports needed. icloud for storage, Bluetooth for peripherals. Display can be added through the USB C port, and USB c delivers power to. There's no other ports needed. This isn't a power user notebook they have the macbook pro for that.

If you need to attach it to a projector or an external display device, you'll need an adapter to VGA/DVI/HDMI/DP because nothing uses USB-C input. If you need to get something off a USB stick, you'll need an adapter, because there are almost no USB-C sticks on the market (and there are just as many computers you can plug a USB-C device into). If you are an artist and want to plug in a slate, you need a USB A to USB C adapter, and you can't have the laptop charging at the same time. Or outputting video to a secondary display.

Any scenario other than it being an "I watch youtube and write on my facebook" machine means carting around at least one USB A to USB C adapter with you, which, in my mind, completely contradicts the idea of a laptop that is light, extremely mobile and sleek.

I've never heard of a display that can be used from a USB port. Care to show me?

Display adapter already has to be brought for alot of notebooks anyway, storage over icloud, peripherals over Bluetooth. Wireless future is apples goal

You will soon see that the current MacBook is a halo product.  The MacBook Air evolved over time to include more USB ports and a micro sd slot

The first macbook air was a garbage product unfit for its time. Apple has improved their icloud service tremendously, USB 3 is faster than firewire, so that's faded out. Bluetooth for all peripherals. You don't seem to have the insight of looking at a future where there are almost no wires.
