Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will have 5.7-inch dual-edge display, Android 5.1.1

galaxy-s6-edge-plus-1.jpg

I don't understand why Samsung needs to make a larger Edge when the Note still exists (and will likely get the dual bend display as well on the Note 5). But I don't run Samsungs product planning so I'm sure Samsung knows best on flooding the market with multiple variants for the sake of lols.

No further details on newer internals or what have you, lets see how this one goes. The S6 Edge already carries a hefty price premium over the normal Edge, no idea what this one is going to command or if it will replace the Edge entirely.

First, the display. The Galaxy S6 edge Plus will have a 5.7-inch display, with curves on both sides like the Galaxy S6 edge. Rumors had pointed at a 5.5-inch display, but it looks like Samsung thinks 5.7-inch is a better size (or the company is just more comfortable with the size because of its last two Galaxy Note smartphones.) Secondly, the Galaxy S6 edge Plus will come with Android 5.1.1 preloaded out of the box – unsurprising, as anything below 5.1.1 would be totally unacceptable at this point.

Base model off contract prices.

Galaxy S6: $600

Galaxy S6 Edge: $700

Galaxy S6 Edge+: $800?!?!?!

How much is the Note going to be then? And perhaps Samsung is keeping a removable back on the Note line to differentiate from the S6+. Otherwise, they're the same phone basically.

To be fair, most people don't pay off contract prices so its not an issue, but this just seems like model bloat. A 5.7" Edge Plus and a 5.7" Note 5, both of which carrying the same panel (likely) and perhaps the Note 5 gets a new SoC. I don't get it. The Note 5 will have a gigantic battery but all the same, so much overlap for no reason.

You would think even Vic would know that since he commented on that thread...

Oh wait.

That was rumour, this is a photo with more concrete info. Let @Blade of Grass make of it what he (or another mod) will

Why? Just stick with the Note series at that size.

Thats what doesn't make sense. Maybe this is the end of the Note series with the Galaxy line getting so huge?

If you put a Note 5 at 5.7" and a S6 Edge Plus at 5.7", the only differentiating factor is coming down to bigger battery on the Note 5 and the S Pen.

IMHO, the Note would be superior to the traditional phones at those sizes, simply because of battery size and the fact that Samsung isn't half bad at putting large battery capacities to good use. All the model bloat and overlap is getting outrageous.

You people are so quick to jump on the "lol repasta" bandwagon that you don't even read/think before doing so anymore.

Aside from being rotated please do show me the difference between the two pics

They just patented a self-ejecting S-Pen. They can't be considering dropping the Note. Maybe it's because there's no room for the S-Pen if both sides have the edge.

The point still stands that the Edge+ will be $200 more than a base S6. Even on contract.
