I've just started PC gaming and I've spent whole evenings looking for a game to download on steam. There are so many I can't seem to choose! I'm looking for a game with a ton of replay value (Skyrim excluded), also story is a big factor for me. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Bioshock Infinite has the story, but not much of the replayability..

Sonic Generations is a lot of fun and very replayable, but not a whole lot of story..

Maybe something like Mass Effects fits you? Or any of the other Elder Scrolls games?

  • Fallout: New Vegas
  • Mass Effect series
  • Morrowind
  • Bastion
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R

Only ones I can suggest that have replay value.

Dishonored comes to mind, I loved that game.

Some classics:

- Half Life series

- Mass Effect 1, 2, 3

- Bioshock 1 (maybe not 2, never played it though), Infinite

?

EDIT: Binding of Isaac, Cities Skylines and the such can take many hours of your life ^_^

I've played mass effect before, I didn't really get into them. I'm sure I'll get bioshock infinite at some point, I'm just looking for a game to consume a lot of time, not just a campaign and done game.

From what I've heard Binding of Isaac just has a ton of possible outcomes, right? What's the gameplay like?

I know this is an RPG oriented thing, but I like Kerbal Space program. More of a sandbox than anything, but its REALLY fun.

Other than that, warframe is very fun, gotta play all the half life series at least once, and bioshock is very fun (Although never played it on PC)

Maybe Half Life 2 (or Black Mesa) would be cool for you, but I have no clue how long that game is..

Do you not agree with me? Is it because YOU'RE TOO SLOW!?

/jk :P

Sonic games are just really cool IMO, at least some.

Sonic Generations is among my most favorite games ever. If only I had a good PC, because I would mod the game if so.

Just that a lot of the sonic games recently have been quite bad that's all and it's left a bad taste in my mouth. You see I eat games  I will give it a shot and see if I can reedem some faith in sega.

The thing I love about it is the unlimited potential of replayability. There are hundreds of items that can change your playstyle and work with each other, creating awesome synergies and they are all randomly placed through a set number of floors.

Bit of a spoiler (as far as this game has a compelling story):

When you reach the final floor, fight and beat Mom, credits will roll. Next time you beat her, you can progress further. Mom's heart can be beaten, credits roll again. Next time you beat 'It', you can progress further. You get where I'm going, it continues for a while :D

By the way, I am talking about the 2nd game, Rebirth. It is basically the first game+the DLC with even more items and enemies added. So if you want to get it, get Rebirth. It's not expensive at all.

It is a great roguelike that takes some skill (and will produce quite some frustration from time to time.

Sonic Generations was one of the good recent Sonic games.

It takes all the things good about 2D and 3D Sonic and puts it in 1 game without much bullshit.

Could always go Dark Souls/Dark Souls 2. Tons of replayability when you want to play/try different styles of fighting and whatnot. Story is somewhat there, but not a big thing in this game though.

Mount & Blade:Warband (or other versions, Warband is just the best for me) has mega replayability with mods (similar situation that Skyrim is in), despite being an old game. Story is not really there because it is more of a sandbox sorta game (Do what you want).

Wait for the sale though! NEVER buy steam games especially old ones in-between sales (I got Far Cry 3 for £2.49) last year.

It's a ton of fun, even has some replay value by resetting the outposts.

Tip: DO NOT BUY ANY GUNS! You can get them for free by doing the radio towers.

Definitely far cry 3.

On buying guns.... It's worth it to buy a good sniper rifle (seriously one with a silencer) or the bow very early on. Also, buy silencers, as you don't get them for free. They help more than you could ever dream.

Early on, make sure to craft a lot. You'll thank yourself later.
