Well... It is possible that will gtx 980ti(5.5+0.5) perform simmilar than gtx970 (3.5+0.5 gb), so if you don't mind having 0.5gb slower vRam i suggest you to take 980ti. Otherwise, wait for benchmarks, and see what is best for you.

There's no reason it would be 5.5+.5. Pictures of architecture have already been posted, showing everything is there properly.

Possibly. Idk, I've just read it in one of the rummors, so it could be fake.

Do people actually buy binned niche 980s? Oh wait, that's exactly what EVGA does with every single card.

Not this again... And even if it had "only" full speed 5.5 GB, that's stil 1.5GB more than 980 so it's still a win.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

Of course it's fake. The only way there could be memory problems is if they left 12gb on it and got rid of the same things they got rid of on the 970, the L2 or whatever.

Ofc people do, and what do you mean by every card? The only ones that are heavily binned are the classy and Kingpin from evga.

PLEASE don't spread misinformation. Nvidia caught so much shit for the 970, no chance in hell they would do the same thing again.

They bin everything honestly. You literally pay more for a better overclockable chip with the same mediocre cooler.

I don't really consider cards outside of the top tier as binned, since in my experience and what I've seen, 90% of the cards in the rest of the line are hitting the same overclocks. The classified, Kingpin, G1 gaming, matrix, lightning, hall of fame cards are always a cut above the rest. I consider those cards binned and not the others.

Well, technically they are binned. They may only come with a higher OC from factory but EVGA does bin every chip in the line up.

What does "binned" mean?

Well, it's essentially categorising identical chips by their performance.

They go through each GPU and find which ones run the coolest and/or overclock the best and set them aside for the higher-end cards.

I'd wait for the 980 Ti - any day now? 2GB more memory, loads more memory bandwidth and should overclock well. Easy decision if you ask me, it just comes down to price, or hang around a few days to get the proper Ti benchmarks

To OP,

I would wait for benchmarks, but if the rumored specs/price is to be true, you might as well get a titan (if your planning to get the 980 Ti). It's rumored to to be $800 (just $200 shy from the titan). I'm waiting for the 980 Ti as well, but the rumored price ($800) doesn't sit well with me :(.  Hopefully the rumors aren't true.

Thanx for the explanation.
