R9 290X vs GTX 970?

I have done a lot of research on these two cards and I haven't decided which one to buy, I hope owners of each these two cards tell me about the experiences. FYI I will be using a 600w psu for the build.

questions 1. How do both cards compare performance wise?

                2. What are some other factors (like noise, heat etc. ) that will affect my experience or the performance? And how?

                3. Any flaws/weaknesses with this build plan? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/yRDQvK

the 970 will perform better at 1080p, about equal at 1440p and a bit worse at 4k

http://www.anandtech.com/show/8568/the-geforce-gtx-970-review-feat-evga

the 970 will use less power, run cooler, and be quieter

also it can overclock more

I would get the 970 because of Geforce experience and the slight performance edge.

They perform the same, though the 290x is better in higher resolutions

The 290X will output more heat and take more power, 600w is the minimum I'd suggest, just don't OC

You're going to benefit much more from a good mouse than an RGB keyboard. Take it from someone who spent $200 on a mechanical RGB keyboard, it isn't worth. At all.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/JnLpLkThat is what I'd get.

Google 970 reviews, Google 290x reviews, compare performance in the same game at same settings (easy if using the same reviewer website)

Why multiple games with both of these..?... because not all games are equal...

Find out which games that YOU play, how they perform on each GPU... what GPU features interest you, all of the above should give you a clear answer.

/Yeah Mech-Keyboards are great, but you could spend the money way better/more wisely and its not like membrane keyboards all of a sudden are completely fucked...

We've been using them for years fine,.. so if you can put money into a better part, save the keyboard money and get a temp cheaper 'couple of months' timeframe alternative.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Descent build. Just wondering, why get a Z97 board for a locked CPU? The 970 will perform a tad bit better, but the 290x will perform better at higher resolutions.

Because like me, the i5-K & i7-K currently is pointless for my usage (and the budget at time of buying, usually the more common case), but in time,.... its nice to have the upgrade-ability.

Oh and I get FULL 2400Mhz from my DDR3 memory on a Z-board, with a H-board It limits itself down to 1600Mhz... at least mine did, couldn't select faster than 1600mhz.

Honestly just wait for AMD's new gpu's to come. Its right around the corner. They are more then likely re branding the 290x which could offer some newer features or higher clocks.

1080p the 970 wins hands down. for 1440p and above, just get an 980.

Plus the 970 can be overclocked to 980 speeds (mine haS). if you insist on getting a 290X, get a lightning card.
