Hatred: GOG refuses to sell game; Will be available 3 days early for Steam preorders.

JayD

No because there's a story that makes you feel better for killing people in GTA & witcher 3. IMO killing is killing either way someone is dead & GOG is only hurting itself by blocking this game from its consumers. How can you compete with Steam when you refuse to offer a title while the competitor doesn't not good.

Really? The story makes you feel better about Trevor being a motherfucking cannibal? You're being disingenuous here.

I guess you misread my comment i agree with you i'm saying others think that which makes them feel better about playing games like GTA & not liking hatred for pretty much the same thing killing.

I'm curious if the game supports mods. The game might be plenty controversial as is, but imagine being able to mod any old character model into the game, even a caricature of someone famous. If they're going for controversy, might as well drive it home.

The developers have stated in their Steam FAQ that there will be mod tools available some time after release.

Basically they took that one level from Modern Warfare 2 and made it into an entire game? So why are people getting so worked up about it?

You know what's easier than buying and building a brand new PC? Petty larceny!
If you're worried about getting caught, here's a trick: Only steal one part at a time. Plenty of people will call the cops because somebody stole their computer -- nobody calls the cops because they're "pretty sure the dirty-bathrobe guy from next door jacked my heat sink."

I can see it now Chris brown shooting rihanna or vice versa. The internet will do something like that pretty sure.

If GOG isn't comfortable with hatred I'd understand.  To be frank I don't think that hatred should be sold on any platform that isn't capable of determining the age of the users,  and preventing those under 18 from getting it.

Can alcohol determine the age of the people drinking it, and prevent those under 18 from getting it?

Parents should control which games their kids play, a platform that sells games is not a parent.

The stars died for you to be here today.

We all know that most parents don't care if a game is rated for mature audiences.

Trying to make a platform that sells games act as your parent is dumb, we all know you can cheat your age on the waters of the Internet sea, and claim to be 50 when you're actually 11.

It's all about the focus of the game. You can kill and murder people in Call of Duty but the focus is different than a game like Hatred.

So CDPR will sell their game with sex in it, but murdering people is not okay? I bet they all played GTA too.

Let me get this strait... you're comparing murder with sex? Do you not see how insane that is?

I honestly find it incredible that all forms of media still frown upon sex, but murder, senseless or otherwise, is perfectly acceptable. Personally, I couldn't care less about either within gaming as long as it has a purpose.

To be fair. You can't really say that.  Kids are not stupid.  A twelve year old can easily make a steam account to make him/herself a 20 year old. It's not that hard.  There is no other way to stop them other than asking for an ID sent to the company (ie. Steam and GOG) proving age.

Hell even places like Walmart and Target don't ask for ID.  In fact, the ESRB and the MPAA are both rating suggestions boards and not law.  These companies don't really have to follow the guidelines because they're no laws to follow, but suggestions.

GOG just don't want responsibility if there is an incident.  They have that right and I respect that right. I am against censorship though.

Really? We are comparing Hatred with Witcher 3??

Ggwp...did everyone forget Postal or something?

Is that game available on GoG? If yes, this is questionable, if not.. Well then it's clear as daylight why Hatred is not.

Witcher 3 don't focus on mass murder for shits and giggles.

Hatred does, and its the only plot in the game as far as I know.

Postal... Well I don't remember but it's not exactly sunshine and rainbows.

Nope. Pre-ordered W3 before it came out and already have Arkhram Knight on pre-order. I'm not passing up amazing deals on games when I'm as certain as I can be that they'll be good.

No?

Sexual content and that level of violent content get the same rating most of the time. The only reason Hatred is getting the "adult only" rating is because it's not trying to hide what it is: it's story is blatantly about killing innocent civilians. The character Trevor in GTA:5 gives zero shits about anyone, he tortures someone in the game and killing someone doesn't phase him at all - actually pleases him.

But when there's a game revolving around that specific type of story, nah we gotta make a shit storm about it.

The first two Postal games are. I think the big thing people are ignoring here is rating. W3 and both Postal games are rated M, Hatred is AO. It all probably comes down to that, GOG doesn't want to sell an AO rated game.

Postal was a completely fucked up game but still didn't have too many problems. I wouldn't play Hatred, but I don't see why people should complain about it.

If they end up being disappointing, you lose all right to complain. Not to mention the guilt you should feel for contributing to the ruination of the gaming industry.

Both companies made a porno: one of them with a bit of a plot to it and the other one very hard to watch S&M porn, but both fucking porn nonetheless.

Yes, both pornos, but one way more hardcore.

At the same time, if you never had any hands on said product your complain is Biased due to the lack of experience with it.

I saw it when it came out. You're welcome to retread all the arguments you want, doesn't change that attacking pre-orders and people that pre-order is stupid and ignoring the problem entirely. Pre-ordering is not the problem. The real problem is something no one wants to hear or admit because it reflects on most of them. People are not smart consumers. It's not hard to get a feel for a game before it's out, but that actually requires people to pay attention and be intelligent. It is incredibly rare that I get caught off guard when I pre-order. It happens now and then, but not very often. Why? Because I don't go "OMG shiny, must pre-order now". I sit and wait. I pay bloody attention. Then I look for deals and generally wait until closer to release before pre-ordering,
