SilverStone Headphone Stand Design Contest

oh I know what your talking about now. I have to check mine again to see if it's up there, but I submitted around the 300+ entry mark so I understand if it's not done yet.

From where were you able to determine your entry mark?

Actually, where does it state how many entries there are? Thanks :)

Linus posted on Twitter there were 800+ entries. I was just going off that, and how when I submitted he posted on Twitter about there being over 300.

Ahh I see, thanks.

I also guess more people outside of the LTT community would have submitted designs as well, also since it was posted on the MyMiniFactory website.

800 huh... Gonna be tough to make that top 10. :)

Has anyone heard anything from anybody?

Nope, my entry is still sitting there with no pictures looking like a failed upload to their website

Both my entries are showing 'under review' but no reply yet.

I think it's just going to take a while, as in weeks not days. I took a look at the other competitions and even the one from May still says 'no tag line exists' when trying to view entries. The one from April is the most recent competition where everything looks as it should.

I get the feeling that this competition in particular will take a long time - there's a real flood of entries to deal with and 3D printing is very slow.

Yeah I looked at those as well; I feel like they are growing and probably could use more hands than they have. They have been announcing new features to the website lately as well, so it's hard to tell what priority the competitions are. We're probably looking at them finishing early-mid July and not having LTT picking the final one until august. No way of telling, just speculation. I have 5 submission sets submitted to them, with 4 of them being "under review", one not being under review yet, and only one of them having a "visit." I just hope that there isn't any issues with them so that when you contact you and fix the problem the contest will already be over.

As it happens, just today I had to contact them to clear a little mishap. They got back within an hour

I get the impression they will be thorough in making sure the entries are represented properly - it might just be a bit of a wait. If the other items on the site are anything to go by I think we'll have some very nice photos when voting opens.

shit I need one for my wall tired of putting my fucking headphones on my desk / floor at times.

I would design one if I had time but college got me all tied up right now right before finals.

Why are most of these stands out on the market are overpriced as shit?

i did a render of the 5 designs i submitted and uploaded them here if someone want to look : http://sta.sh/2fyxjl7wf1d

All done by the end of the month? That's actually quite impressive, considering all that needs to be done.

Also some cool little designs you have there, makes me wish I had done more, if I had the time.

And what programs did you use?

yay, first done entry for me https://myminifactory.com/object/8342 (not avaible for other peoples :/ here are some of the photos they took : http://sta.sh/2lkj47p8h3g )

thougt they didn't put the headset on it the intended way :/

i thought i sent them drawings explaining that, the hearcups should be laying on the sides

edit : i uploaded a render with an headset as it should have been, but it was uploaded as a "print" so idk how it will appear on the page...

the entries should pop up here btw : https://myminifactory.com/tag/linus-tech-tips-headphone-design-25?page=1

edit 2 :

there has been a serious loose of quality direclty from the file + it has been shrunk down, so the print looks weird and they put the headset that way

here the largest model is what i uploaded, and the little one inside is the one i downloaded from the page

2___by_nagby-d8yjtnk.png

or maybe they thought it was too big because the headset should be handle that way...

what i meant                                                                                                                     what they thought

from what i see, that mean, spam will be very efficient to win?

Unfortunate about the front bit on the print, how it looks a bit off as well.

Also, did no one in the office have a real pair of headphones to take photos with? That 3D model pair of headphones look hideous lol.

ye, maybe they saw it wouldn't be possible to bend their printed headset on my stand so they reduced the scale of my model but then it screwed up the tiny polygons

I would actually buy this stand. Really good looking.

thanks ^^

2 other ones are now done for me, and this time it was done allright

61ea8f0f32972d90b37179315d5b908f8781ca40

well that one is pretty straigth forward

and for the 2nd, they even showed how it is assembled and used a real headset (thougth they printed the 2 headset version but only put 1 on it)

and i saw that 2 stands are already public

https://myminifactory.com/object/alpha-8323

https://myminifactory.com/object/wall-mounted-dual-headphone-hanger-9223

even dual color for that 2nd, but the headset isn't laying on it correctly, and i can say that without knowing about that stand before, but it's meant to hold 2 turned at 90° from what they did

Here are all of my designs now finally printed out:

#1: Mounted the wrong way around https://www.myminifactory.com/object/8487

#2: ok (just printed to small) https://www.myminifactory.com/object/8585

#3: waaaaay to small - someone must´ve printed it in inches (it was 180mm tall and the arm reached nearly that far out too!) https://www.myminifactory.com/object/8410

Somehow none of my rendered pictures are shown...
