Cheapest CPU for Dual R9 295x2 GPUs

Just like the title says, what would be the cheapest CPU that i could buy that will have enough power to be able to run a pair of 295x2 cards? Will I have to go i7? Or will somthing like an i5 work? @Whaler_99 can you help out here?

Collecting every single CPU in existence? Is it possible? I have no idea, but i'm sure gonna try! http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/341848-dont-throw-away-old-cpus-im-collecting/

I think a cheap dual core will work according to a guide.

Well i was told that for each GPU I will need a core. with dual 295x2 ill have a total of 4 cores, so i think ill need a quad core CPU.. i think

I would have said an i3 would have worked, but I've never tested anything, so there's a big possibility that I'm wrong

Lol, Xeon? I cant afford a Xeon... i spent too much on the GPUs.. lol, now i just want to get the cheapest CPU i can for the build. It will be strictly folding, so keep that in mind. but yeah, i dont think i need an extreme edition. I wont be folding on the CPU just the GPU will have active folding slots

Just get an I5.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

Why you shouldn't trust Gpu or Cpu boss Click on this I dare you!

There are xeons that will be priced similarly to the i5s.

I'd look at one of those Xeons or a 4690

CPU: R5 5800X3D Motherboard - MSI X570 Gaming Plus RAM - 32GB Corsair DDR4 GPU - XFX 7900 XTX 4GB Case - NZXT H5 Flow (White) Storage - 2X 4TB Samsung 990 Pro PSU - Corsair RM100E Cooling - Corsair H100i Elite Capellix Keyboard Corsair K70 (Brown Switches)  Mouse - Corsair Nightsword RGB

Hmm if only they made mATX boards for the Xeons.. what would be the benefit of a xeon? just more cores?

More cores and from personal experience they're more reliable / have better up time over i5s.

They make Xeon CPUs that fit the Z97 chipset. So you could find a board that would work

For folding an athlon II x4 is perfectly fine.

so somthing like a 4440 would be good?

Sure, but by far not the cheapest option.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Well i want to go intel, because of reliability and the fact that i trust them more. plus ive always used intel, i havent ever used AMD and for a build like this i really dont wanna make it harder then it has to be,

It's really not that different, the only thing that changes is that the pins are on the cpu. If you must have a core per cpu, intel only offers that in i5s and up. But I suspect an i3 (which has hyperthreading) would do the job just fine. It's 50 bucks more though. Your call, but there's nothing wrong with athlons.

So @Whaler_99 and everyone else too.. how about this: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/fhbJXL

I dont really know AMD stuff, but it does seem to be cheaper overall for sure. Not sure wether i should go with AMD or Intel for this build, and i have no idea which one will be better for reliability options. the CPU is what im worried about. what even is this CPU? Should i go AMD or Intel?
