Mazda RX8 with blown engine - 2000$

Should i pull the trigger and buy this one? I mean, its a rotary, what can get fucked op beside apex seals and it running with no oil?

Hmmm sounds right to get a japanese sports car made in 2005 with 200hp and aircon, leather interior for 2000. HHhhhhmmmmmmmm

There may be serious damage to the rotor housings as well. (Warping,Grooving,Gouging etc)

If you do buy it. Keep this in mind and have a look at the cost of replacement engines + New seals

Depends on the owners definition of blown. Most people don't understand rotary, so it may be alright, but at the same time remember they are a very difficult engine to work on and fix. And finding someone to do it for you is nearly impossible. And if they are to hard on it, it is possible for the housing's to warp, just keep that in mind.

Does not having a second parenthesis around something bother anyone else as much as it does me? (Like if this statement was missing a second side)

lol

also depends on what condition and how many kms

The sadest thing is the RX8 is not boosted...

Could be, but could also be some damaged apex seals...this is a real gamble

I'm guessing blown in this context doesn't mean a supercharger?

Blown as broken :))

If you buy it you might have a reason to get a 20b   :P

find me a 20b m8 for cheap8 and ill do it r8

Unless you explicitly need a car that was intended as a "sports" car, and considering how much it'll take to fix as well as the godawful gas mileage of an RX8 (seriously, expect pickup truck like MPG), Maxima master race. 255hp with aircon and leather, for likely less then the cost of what the RX8 will cost you in the end, as long as you're willing to give up 3 model years.

Keep in mind that even after fixing it'll cost an arm and a leg in fuel.  You might be better off pulling out the engine and sticking a V8 under the hood.  Might be the cheaper fix too, depending on how "blown" it is.

Not just a gamble. It's wallet russian roulette with 4 bullets in a six shooter.

Take some time to check out prices for engines, Seals, refurbished rotors. etc before you decide

You could get an engine that was turbocharged from factory if the current lump is fucked

The engine would cost 5x the car lol.

If you dont have access to a super cheap V8 the project kinda loses its cool factor.

If it's in Europethe cheap V8 swap is not an option then, leaving you stuck with an engine that my be impossible to fix. I'd stay clear of it already.

Get in touch with a Mazda dealer and ask him a quote for replacement of the rotors, axle/crankshaft, seals and housing.

If you can't afford that or it makes the car too expensive, walk away from it.

Really, just replace the engine. replace rotary engines shouldn't be too expensive. and really, i wouldn't put a v8 in it, since it just ruins the heritage of the rx lineup.

Well i would have to import an engine. Im like the body and interior a lot. I could put in a BMW 2.5 inline 6. Same power as factory.
