Nice.

 

But why is there 2 static presure fans in that case.  (i though airflow would be the problem :P)

 

There's only 1 static pressure fan and that's at the front pushing through the H55 rad. The fan at the back is a Fractal Design 92mm quiet air flow fan that came out of my old Node 304.  ;)

Somewhat big update. Finally got around to overclocking the little G3258. :D But more on that in a moment. 

 

I stole the H55 AIO cooler to be used on my R9 290 with the Kraken G10 in my main rig. Was then left without a cooler on this machine while I tried to decide which cooler to use, hence the long delay since the last update. Well, I ended up just slapping on the stock Intel heat sink so I could get this thing up and running again and start playing around with overclocking. 

 

Turns out I didn't have to revert to an older BIOS on this board and actually ended up updating to the latest version instead. I then jumped into the advanced CPU settings and started upping the multiplier. This board only has a 4 phase VRM and a single 4pin CPU power connector, so I knew it wasn't going to break any records, lol. The best I could get was 3.8GHz. Not the 4.0 I was hoping for, but still 600mhz over stock, which is fine. 3.9 and the system would lock right up after a few minutes running P95. But 3.8 and it was rock-stable. With the stock heat sink, temps leveled off at 67-69*C max after 15 mins of P95. 

 

Would like to install a better CPU cooler, but there's really no need. 67-69 under full load is well within safe limits and under normal tasks, it stays in the low-mid 30's, so it's totally fine. I installed one of the NZXT 120mm case fans from my S340 at the front as an intake. The whole system runs completely cool and quiet. The GTX 760 barely gets warm, even when running more demanding games like Metro Last Light, it doesn't even reach 50. 

 

So the project is pretty much complete at this point. I'm happy with the OC on the Pentium, happy with the temps and noise levels and very happy with it's performance. Especially considering the cost. ;) Might paint the Intel heat sink black like Linus did in one of this videos. Looked pretty cool and would match the rest of the build. :D

**Project update**

 

With the big upgrades to my main rig pretty much done (for now) and with Frankenputer sold, I've been trying to figure out what the next project should be. There have been some minor changes to this build, mainly just a GPU change. The GTX 760 was sold with the frankenputer build (it needed a GPU because the Phenom CPU in it doesn't have an iGPU), but I found a rare and beautiful Asus GTX 460 OC DCU Top GPU to put in Project Stalker as a replacement. Not as powerful as the 760, but still plenty capable for playing most of the games I run on it anyways. (plus it just looks so cool). Thanks to @mr.squishy for inspiring my to grab that card when I saw it. ;)

 

Anyways, I've decided to re-visit this project and do some more extensive case modding with it. I'll keep you guys guessing as to what exactly I'll be doing with it for now, but let's just say, it's gonna shrink. :D
