So I've heard countless times to not use a vacuum to clean your PC components because it can potentially build up a lot of static electricity and break all your component, but it is okay if you use the vacuum from a distance of about a foot away? My PC is in quite a confined area and I use a can of compressed air to blow out the dust and then my vacuum hose is sitting there, one foot away to suck in all the dust. Is this dangerous for my computer? I have used this method for about three cleans now and I don't see any problems but I just want to make sure. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

It's highly not recommended, and I wouldn't advise it, but it technically does work (as long as the dust doesn't take the computer with it through static electricity).

I wouldn't, but it technically does work.

My backpack leaf blower works great. dont give it any throttle and it throws a lot more air at a lower PSI then my air compressor.

Sure, but in the wrong hands it could do a ton of damage to a pc.

If you're going to use a vacuum, get an anti-static vacuum. Don't you dare use a regular house vac, or I will find you.

you should take it outside and use a vacum that blows like a shopvac or a air compressor

Vacuums, by definition, only suck, not blow.

Compressed air canisters are the best, and fairly cheap, option.

anything in the wrong hands can cause a ton of damage. IE a car, yet we let almost anyone drive those.

OP, if you use a leaf blower do not give it any throttle. I used that alongside with a spare toothbrush to clean everything off

a leaf blower would work fine..just watch the fans ..don't want them to spin to fast

unplug your fans. When they spin they generate electricity. wierd amount of  electricity+motherboard dont mix, let alone damage to the fan

Which is why government insists we have licenses for some reason to prove we're actually competent. Or something like that. :D

Well they have to exhaust the air they suck in by blowing it out, typically through a filtered vent, though with shopvacs they have two holes, one of which is where air gets sucked in, the other of which is where the air is blown out after being sucked through a filter (if there is one in the shopvac)

Or a bike tire inflator, one that you pump like this:

Just use anything that you have around that can blow air. When  I was moving my system into another case, I used a pair of bellows to blow the air away, but I also considered using a bike pump, basketball pump, or electric air mattress pump. Just keep your fans steady while doing anything.
