Experiences with non-techies

Here's another good one: Back in 5TH grade:

Daniel (That kid who was punching a computer): "ZACHARY HOW DO I SAVE THE GOOGLE DOCS DOCUMENT???!!!"

Me: *Facedesk* It saves automagically!

Daniel: I knew that! You little f*cker! Don't you be a smart ass with me!

Me: not being a smart ass, just speaking the truth.

Daniel: Why you little shit head!

Me: What?

Daniel's friend: *Walks up behind me- draws fist* Hey Daniel! What should I do to him?

Daniel: Hit em' in the shoulder

Me: *Turns around, nails his friend in his "processor"*

Daniel: *flips the bird- walks out with fear*

Me: *Laughs my ass off*

I've had a person who recently bought an Alienware PC. Price was just over £2900, Now, I got the same specs, the prices was around £2300. Around £600 saved!

The fact the Alienware is overpriced and over spec'd for the user.

What if they like OSX and want to do some graphics design or video editing? A mac is a much more enjoyable experience to do it on. And the form factor of the mac mini is awesome as well, as the Brix has heat throttling issues anyways so your performance wouldnt be hit too much

You can't do video editing of any description on a mac mini, save the extremely low level where the system makes no difference whatsoever (even assuming mac os is actually better for editing). Buying a 1200$ mac mini for anything is borderline insane. At least 1600$ imacs are decent machines (albeit overpriced), mac minis are just plain bad.

I'M SORRY?! DO YOU NEED TO HAVE A WORD WITH LTT'S UNOFFICIAL SFF SPECIALIST?!

Edit: You can create custom fan curves for silence and cooling! Not to mention "looking nice" is an opinion that everyone has, but is totally different. And buggy? ANYTHING BIT OF CODE EVER WRITTEN WILL HAVE BUGS. PERIOD.

I agree, but chill :P

ANY mitx build is going to be bigger than a Mac mini...

That's what NUCs are for. http://www.amazon.com/Intel-NUC-Kit-NUC5i7RYH-BOXNUC5i7RYHR/dp/B00V4A5ETWnot sure if it's consistently that cheap, but even at full price it's a decent bargain compared to a mac mini. Yes, that is COUNTING the hdd/ssd and ram.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

I had an hillarious one while I was working in a secondary school. (High school for all you US peeps out there). A teacher put through on the Help desk his speakers where not working. So I went over to his class room to take a look and it turned out he was trying to plug the 2.5mm headphone jack off these cheap Logitech speakers into the USB port on the back of the Mobo.

at the time I had serious face on and kept him calm and just informed him of the simple mistake and corrected it to make sure it was all working but now when i look back at it I just laugh (so bad) :L.

How he decided the USB port is a good place to plug speakers is beyond me. :D And don't worry about it, people here are usually not assholes about grammar since this is multi-national forum. :)

I get that, punctuation is not really that much different in almost any language. And reading wall of text without it, is pain in the ass. :D

Im pretty sure you can get mac minis with i7's in them and at least 8gb RAM, which would be awesome for video editing as AfterFX and C4D/etc. all use CPU usage to render things.

As for heat, they chose their processors to have minimal TDP and therefore generally run cooler.

Mac minis look better then any Intel NUC or Brix you will get and most users would pay an extra couple hundred to get something they love the look of (not something cheap and plastic).

As for pricing, you can pick the up for sub 600 im pretty sure (for a lower spec'd model)

So say we all. I'm fourteen, doing the build in my siggy very slowly, get the same thing all the fucking time. Kids are underrated. We do great things daily. As underdeveloped as we are, we still can out think every other species on this planet. You'd think the adults would learn from when they were kids. Although, in the adults DEFENSE, if we think of them as kids who have been around longer, isn't it time they got their opinions heard, not just ignored like when they were our age? Maybe we need to all just need to disregard age completely, in terms of intelligence. Kids are just little adults and adults are just old kids. Sometimes someone who does not match your age group will know more than you. I do hate being ignored because of age though.

After you with that crystal ball.

hm??? >.>

why not? you can build a pc to look good

all objective and opinions.

you can build a pc that looks much better than a mac and jokes on the people who bought the 100,000 dollar car when your car is faster and more powerful with a v8 engine while they have a v2 engine

BUT a strong v4 2.0litre turbo motor can also be quicker then said v8, i.e. better for racetracks so theres a time and place for each car where they are "better" then one another ;)

True. Gaming will kill it. Dirt 3 at lower res maybe? The compact stuff is not about looking good, its about performance per volume per dollar. Most don't get it. If .people think looking good means train wrecking there money, its not worth it.

I thought I had some money... Oh wait... I spent it all ;(
