Has anyone else blasted a budget..... xD

Drackeo

Okay so a few months ago i set out to build a good enough gaming computer, nothing high end or super powerful. I saved money, set aside $20-$40 a week until i had $600(USD). My plan was to build something cheep and use the 600 for everything. Computer parts, desk peripherals.... Literally everything i would need. $600.

Well now i have most everything. I have the computer build and running in a temporary place, currently running on a 1440p 50in TV in my gaming room. And that TV btw crap for pc gaming. Screen Tearing up the ass lol.

But any ways this is what ended up happening, good by $600..... Hello to around a grand....$1000USD....

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/ShawnWilliams/saved/Q7RRsY

I totally blew my budget and couldn't be happier. That original $600 turned into the computer alone. And i think i did good on it for the budget.

My question is has anyone else blown a set budget totally out of the water before?? Kind of like i did? LOL

Absolutely, the configuration you see in my signature was initially intended to be a $700 PC... It ended up costing $1325 before tax... I feel your pain my friend. And I'm glad I do. It was worth every dollar. With all my peripherals, it's about $2000.

CPU: Intel i5-4690k                                                               RAM: 16gb Corsair Vengance Pro DDR3-2400                                                                     Case: NZXT S340

Cooler: CM Hyper 212 Evo                                                  Storage: Intel 730 SSD                                                                                                            PSU: EVGA 850G2

Mobo: Asus Z97-A 3.1                                                          GPU: 980ti G1                                                                                                                          OS: Windows 10 Pro

I had £400 to spend for a GPU and PSU. But my 3770 was bottlenecking my 970 I don't know why. So I wanted a new CPU which means a new MOBO which means a new case. So in the end I spent about £1000 on everything. Will be upgrading soon to make my build £1500  :P

CPU: Intel i7-4790K @ 4.7GHz --- RAM: Lenovo 1600MHz 16GB --- MOBO: Gigabyte Z97-G7 --- GPU: EVGA GTX 970 FTW ACX 2.0+--- PSU: Corsair CX600 --- Case: Corsair Air 540 --- Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61 --- OS: Windows 8.1 --- Monitor: 24" AOC G2460P + Dell 19" --- Mouse: Logitech MX Perfromance --- Keyboard: Corsair K70 (Cherry MX Brown) --- Audio: Sennheiser HD558

Don't buy a GTX 980, it's overpriced! Buy 2 GTX 970s or 2 R9 290s intstead (the R9 290s would even be cheaper)

I never had a budget I just spent what I had for upgrades.

Anyways you should never have a pentium on a 1k build ever.

You shoukd have gone with an i3 minimum.

The computer itself only cost me $600. Idk why people bag on the G3258 lol. I love mine. Have it OCed to 4.7gHz stable soooooooo yah lol. Everything including peripherals and a desk and the computer cost me $1000. Which is a shit lot less then most people but still my original budget for EVERYTHING was what i spent on the parts alone lol.

I kept well within my budget, actually I was around £80 under budget when I first built the machine. I am still happy that I did that even though now I wish I'd spent a bit more however that being said my next upgrade will be sometime this year (November time) however my 2008 Mac Pro is now getting to be quite old and that may delay my Gaming PC Upgrade for a few years as I'd like to get a iMac (If I can afford it, I will be getting a 5k iMac when it goes though a re-fresh with a better GPU).

Main Machine:  16 inch MacBook Pro (2021), Apple M1 Pro (10 CPU, 16 GPU Core), 512GB SDD, 16GB RAM

Gaming Machine:  Acer Nitro 5, Core i7 10750H, RTX 3060 (L) 6GB, 1TB SSD (Boot), 2TB SSD (Storage), 32GB DDR4 RAM

Other Tech: iPhone 15 Pro Max, Series 6 Apple Watch (LTE), AirPods Max, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PS3, Xbox 360

Network Gear:  TP Link Gigabit 24 Port Switch, TP-Link Deco M4 Mesh Wi-Fi, M1 MacMini File & Media Server with 8TB of RAID 1 Storage

Oh mine started out as a $500 build, then I kept saying to my self, "You know for $20 more I can get this and it is so much better." then, "You know I can get this for just a mere $50 more and the performance difference is huge." So on and so fourth until I spent about $1650.

Nothing wrong with the G3258. There are some newer games that make good use of a quad core, but the G3258 runs them pretty well with only two cores as long as the overclock is solid. My GF's Rig has this CPU, and it runs ESO as good as my 4690k. Actually, come to think of it, the G3258 is a fantastic MMO CPU.

My budget was $300 (I know)

Then I build a PC for around $1000 (I don't even know how much it costs), YAY!

My computer's made mostly from used parts, but if I had skimped on the case, cooler and motherboard, I would easily have a $600-700 rig, and I went with a full-out 2600K.

Just saying, sometimes you can get great deals on awesome stuff. At the very least, you have a deliciously upgradeable computer.

And that's why you don't get a TV to replace a monitor for PC gaming... Some are fine, but most are junk. They have higher input lag and the refresh rate is often massively exaggerated when it can really only handle up to 60hz, if that.

Budgeted $3k for my build, forgot the PSU and peripherals, ended up waiting for a sale and snagged it all for $3.5k, not too much of a drag.

The $1000 is for everything. No just the computer. I only spent around $500 or $600 on actual

I had none of the accessories like keyboards and a monitor so I needed those also.

And that ssd is just a cheep temp drive. Upgrading very soon to a Samsung evo ssd :)

Two parts of my computer were used.... I have a DVD-RW drive in my current computer from my old hp dc5750... And I had a 750gb (was only 650gb actually) seagate hard drive from some dell slimline bought back in 2006 or so... So that 7 year old hard drive finally broke this week, so I'm waiting for my 2TB WD RE4 to arrive... It hasn't even shipped yet, and until then I have to use my slow laptop... I miss my desktop so much :(
