For all you FRAPS haters.. but wait there's...

CDMC

So i noticed how Linus is always saying that fraps kills FPS in games. Well, he is right, i agree.

before i say anything else here few words what im running in my rig(i really don't want to brag, its nothing special)

I have FX-8350, 16Gb (1600mhz) ram, two(soon to be replaced) GTX560 2GB versions and no SSD's, only 7200rpm HHD's. I play games at 4545x900 and if i tried to record with fraps at that res, my PC would probably explode and kill everyone in my city including my cat....

BUT, i accidentally came a cross program called "Action!"

Now you know that recording with fraps at surround resolutions will absolutely destroy your FPS, shoot your HDD and laugh at your SSD. However, recording with "Action!" it doesn't!

Here is few examples, recorded with "Action!"

Old but still fun game, Test Drive Unlimited (all settings max)

Tomb Raider (almost max out with tressfx etc. For some reason looks a bit choopy but in game its very smooth when recording)

Euro Truck Simulator 2 (high/ultra)

GTAIV (badly rendered but still you get my point. Very high settings)

If it records so well on surround, how well it will record on single monitor?

This program is not free tho, sadly.

You can try it out/or buy it at http://mirillis.com/en/products/action.html

Hope this will be useful for someone. Just wanted to share it cause i found this by accident and i love it!

Looks good, specially for AMD owners because Nvidia will have ShadowPlay. I'll give it a try.

MSI Afterburner, indeed. There is pretty much 0 FPS drop. I am not sure about surround gameplay as I have never tried it. Other than that, its just perfect for anyone (as it is actually FREE).

MSI Afterburner is awesome <3

Dxtory is also amazing. The feature that stands out for me is the "fake RAID" recording allowing you to get the benefit of RAID without actually RAID'ing the drives.

There's:

-FRAPS

-Bandicam

-DXTory

-OpenBroadcastSoftware(has a local recording feature, works well in my testing so far)

-MSI Afterburner

FRAPS is the last one I would use, it's terrible!

I use Bandicam. Good quality recordings with no slowdowns and relatively small files compared to FRAPS. Also records your desktop, not just games.
