Well I guess it's good that they are keeping updated. Glade that apple tv now supports 4k and is cheaper plus the updates to the macbook got updated with the new hardware and better display. Nothing really revolutionary but very nice updates (the guys on stage think all of their product updates are revolutionary).

 

The Apple watch on the other hand has the "potential" to be revolutionary. Though, it's expensive and doesn't have as much hardware wise as people were hoping it's still neat and looks very nice. I'm not excited about it though.

A macbook air without a fan? That is stupid. Even if phones don't need fans there is a big difference from a phone to a whole computer that you can actually run large programs/games on.

A macbook air without a fan? That is stupid. Even if phones don't need fans there is a big difference from a phone to a whole computer that you can actually run large programs/games on.

That is impressive but still that will either get very hot or not be powerful. Or they might prove me wrong and be cool and powerful. I'll have to see. All I know is it is too expensive.

The Core M was actually designed for tablets, to give a better option than the Atom CPU ones available now.

It fits with what this 12" is. A very powerful tablet with a permanently attached keyboard and no touchscreen. So not a tablet at all. I am surprised, this seems like such a misstep for Apple.

The Core M based system can fit in a 7inch tablet. :)

Well it is supposed to be faster than the Intel Atom commonly found in low cost tablet.

Of course the Core M is not cheap. But expect perhaps 500-600$ tablets with it, in the 7-11inch form factor.

Right now, you have a big price jump, if you want to pass from Atom to Core i3. The Core M will attempt to fill that gap.

Personally. I expect at the annoncement of the Surface Pro 4, a Surface Pro Mini, with the Core M CPU, and the Surface Pro series remain with the more powerful Core i3/i5/i7 U series options

The new MacBook 2015 really has me stumped where to place it on Apple's product line.  It is supposed to be their low end laptop, below the Air and Pro models, yet it's priced very the same as a the low end Pro model while only providing increased storage capacity and RAM over the Air.  Any increase the power and performance of the Air will cannibalize the sales of this model.  Even a new iPad could threaten its market.  Had the new laptop been priced at $800 for the base model, I could see it making more sense.

 

I think one issue is that Apple has baked in the cost of the increased storage at the same price it costs to upgrade it through them (actually they seem to have increased it another $100 compared to their other offerings).

I got a gold watch for my 21st birthday over 10 years ago it still looks amazing i cant see myself ever buying a digital watch no matter how high tech they get :)

lol. Actually, if I am not mistaken, it was the back light of the LCD panel that was illuminating the logo.

i think it was a design thing nothing technical since the light was always the back lit of the display

I also agree that the new Macbook is a bit of a WTF moment. Its like a iPad on steroids. Thats a very certain demographic. It gets creamed by the Surface Pro 3 and now with the Surface Pro 4, who knows how much worse it will be. 

 

I think it looks sexy, but Apple is smoking the great stuff with this one. Not that it won't sell, its just that the performance and price gap between a similar Surface isn't even remotely fair towards it. 

 

Even when you compare the new MacBook to other MacBooks Apple is currently selling, the price to performance gap is pretty big. Which is why it reminds me of the launch of the first MacBook Air.

edit: it's not the pro so noone gives a shit and probably isnt pushing the industry at all, the basic MB is pointless.

 

Also, people are saying the new ATV supports 4K, where does it say that? It doesnt say in the post above or on Apple's site, hell it doesn't even say there is a new ATV, just "HBO now" support

I agree with you. At that price point, just buy the ne 13 inch MacBook pro. The new MacBook is underpowered. Has no physical usb (not type c) port, which defeats the purpose of a notebook. This looks to me like a tablet with keyboard, track pad and OS X on it.
