Good Camcorders for 4K/UHD Under $1000-$2000

Go to solution Solved by Blade of Grass,

The Gh4 is not a DSLR, it' a m4/3 camera

Consider a C100 maybe?

Or the Sony A7s

C100 is $5000, which is quite a bit out of his budget.

4K is extremely useful now. As just one example, it can act as 2 cameras, offering a close up and wide angle shot at the same time. Though for all we know all the OP wants to do is admire his footage on his 4K TV.

He also never specified a budget - though @MRE Teck if you want to record to SD, the Panasonic is your only option and it does a decent job. BlackMagic's production camera is a great option but it takes SSDs and you will need to spend quite a bit of money working around its own unique set of issues.

He did specify a budget, $1000-$2000 ;)

GH4 is probably one of, if not, your best options TBH

I've already seen the Panasonic LUMIX GH4 which seems like an amazing DSLR but in the way of good camcorders.

NEEDS:

- Support for at least 128GB sd card

- Capability to attach shotgun microphines and video viewers (or whatever they are called)

- Good quality

He wants 4k or uhd, C100 is 1080p, A7s is only 1080p without an external recorder and is mirror less.

He never asked for DSLR, also, 4K is not really useful now, and for this price point, the Gh4 would be OP's only option then

Took me an insane amount of time to find it. Only ever read the clipped heading of "good camcorders for 4kuhd".

In which case yes, Panasonic is the only option.
