Even though I don't smoke I still always carry a lighter because I think it's really handy to have on me, everyone around me thinks it's odd. Is it odd?

what do you use it for?

General stuff, I have friends that smoke, getting extra string off of clothes, stuff like that. I think it's really handy

What could you possible need fire frequently enough to carry a lighter for?

Fire is always handy

if you think its handy and you use it frequently then theres nothing weird about that :)

 

if you carry it around and never use it though, then thats a different story...

If you think it's handy it's not odd at all. You've justified it perfectly well. I personally always carry fire, mainly because I often get asked if I have fire (I love this saying) by smokers etc. I don't regularly smoke but I'll have one with them and that leads to having 5 minutes of nice interaction with a fellow human being.

Not at all. I rarely need to shoot things but I carry a gun with me at all times, as well as having parachute chord sewn into the hemming on my pants.

The ideal tool for the job is always the one you left at home :D

 

As of the past couple of months I have put a flashlight into my EDC at work. And I can't tell you how many random times that it has been handy.

Flashlights are so highly underrated it's almost scary, especially with everyone thinking "oh well I have one on my phone"

I light fires at least twice a day. They're fun to play with, as bad as that sounds. Making aerosol flamethrowers is always fun hahaha

Dude, 2014 was one of the worst years in recorded history.

 

There was like 1,500 last year.

I personally carry a small one that only uses a single AA battery :)

what do you carry? i carry a fenix e12 and before that i carried a fenix p1d for years before i replaced it with the e12 to move to AA batteries rather then the expensive cr123 i was using with the p1d
