Who do you think will win the Scrapyard wars?

IGetMoreAssThanAToiletSeat

I'm liking what Luke has coming together and think Linus got lucky because of his influence.

Luke should win theoretically, if it's purely gaming focused.

However it would be interesting to find out how much of a bottle neck the processor(s) will cause.

With processors being so much faster lately, we have almost completely ignored the idea of bottle-necking in the past 2 years.

Both the E8400 and Q6600 were enthusiast favorites at their hay-day due to their overclock-ability, so it'll be interesting to see how they scale up now.

Depending on the benchmark used, lukes r9 290 will dominate IMO

Luke should win but we all know Linus will do whatever it takes to claim victory (cheat/bendtherules/sabotage/fireLuke...)

I think it will come down to who can overclock higher, from memory the e8400 overclocked higher than the q6600... But modern games are more multi threaded... Hard one to call but I think Luke will win... Until Linus cheats

Guys, guys they both will get bottlenecked. But Luke has the better card so sadly

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.

I was only 9 years old. I loved Fifflaren so much, I had all the NiP merchandise and matches pirated. I prayed to Fifflaren every night before bed. Thanking him for the life I have been given. Fifflaren is love I say. Fifflaren is life. My dad hears and calls me a fuckhead. I knew he was just jelly of my passion for Fifflaren. I called him a Sw@yer. He hits me and sends me to go to sleep. I'm crying now, and my face hurts. I lay in bed and it's really cold. A warmth is moving towards me. I feel someone touching me. I feel someone touching me. It's Fifflaren. I am so happy. He whispers in my ear; "this is my pyjama". He grabs me with his powerful Swedish hands and puts me on my hands and knees. I'm ready. I spread my ass cheeks for Fifflaren. He penetrates my butt-hole. It hurts so much but I do it for Fifflaren. I can feel my butt tearing as my eyes start to water. I push against his force. I want to please Fifflaren. He roars a viking roar as he fills my butt with his love. My dad walks in. Fifflaren looks straight into his eyes and says; "He is a ninja now". Fifflaren is love, Fifflaren is life

If Linus gets a good overclock then he will have the better system. I doubt Luke's low end Asrock board will be able to OC much, but he does have some headroom by only using a C2D based off of 45nm(I guess we will see).

luke's r9 290 won't be able to provide the full support for luke coz his CPU (E8400) core 2 duo. while linus has Q6600 Quad core processor. HD7950 has nearly good performance as R9 290 (not detail wise). HD 7950 is just an old card. thats all. Linus will have better fps rates and Linus will win.

How so? He didn't get the 580 from the fan, so he didn't really use that to his advantage.

On topic, all evidence points to Luke winning but I'll say Lienus for the fun of it. It'll be close though.

Well while linus has got more system memory luke has the better video card and the better processor. It is gonna be close but i think luke will pull out the winner.

There is an old saying, you don't beat the boss at golf.

Well in tech wars you don't beat the boss in Scrapyard Wars.

Even if Luke wins, there will be some technicality that LInus comes up with that will make him the wiener.. i mean winner.

Linus will win overall...probably
it comes down to firestrike
it doesnt care about cpu too much or so i've read but will annihilate gpu's so luke should win by the slimmest of margins (who knows).
linus has a great board so a 3ghz overclock is the minimum he can expect so will not bottleneck that much in dirt3 which loves cores, clocks and cache (and IPC which is equal here) but luke will come close if he manages to hit 4ghz as the game is so easy to run.
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/gaming-fx-pentium-apu-benchmark,review-32368-7.html
however tomb raider SUCKS on dual cores and still easy to run but atleast its well optimised and gpu's really get to stretch thier legs on multi threaded systems and no matter how much luke overclocks it wont match the c2q.

bench the e8400+7950 and q6600+r9-290 afterwards.

I feel like luke might come out ahead. He has an r9 290, which wont do stellar because of the bottlenecking but will do ok I guess. I think it depends on the cpus, If lukes cpu is really bad then he pprobably wont win, but if they are the same level cpus or even lukes cpu is just a bit behind linus's then luke will probably win.

what do you guys think?

Q8300 at stock bottlenecks a 750ti..

Both C2D and C2Q are going to bottleneck hard.

I think it's more of which doesn't doesn't get held back as much. Whoever can overclock the most can probably win

Keep in mind that E8400 keeps up with stock AMD FX in single-threaded performance...
