Can't go wrong with the Audio Technica ATH-M50x; the Beyerdynamic Custom One Pros also tends to go on sale from time to time.

Closed headphones! and yeah those headphones that covers the entire ear! Not those that rest on your ears (I wear specs so it is very uncomfortable for me to use those!)

What are the difference?

On-ear is a smaller cup which you put ON your ear, around-ear is a bigger cup that goes AROUND your ear and seals it. You get a better isolation. For reference; compare some pics of beats headphones and a razer electra (thats not a very good headset but it has big cups and should demonstrate the differences very well)

No problem :D edit your post so that people will know what they should suggest. For starters, the ath-m50x is a good headset for under 200$.

Looks pretty good! Is the price jump worth from m50 to m50x for the cables?

Yes and some minor changes, the x aren't so bone-crusing tight and other little stuff that overall are worth the extra money

Not if the m40x is available in your country for less, it's a much better buy, sounds 95% the same, has a removable cable & the good pads still.

I among other people that are regulars in this sub-forum consider the m50x to be heavily overhyped, especially when the m40x exists.

From what I've read the m50x have a more premium and sturdier feel even if they do sound similar some people might want to pay a little extra for extra comfort.

Hmmm comfort is a must! But if the m40x is at such a low price i might consider going for it over the m50x.... I'll have to order from amazon sadly D: My country doesnt have these products...
