What is the best book on the holocaust or WW2?

Im looking for something quite unbiased that discusses the good and bad things that both 'sides' did during the war.

I think he means like it isn't told from a German or victim's point of view, but just the straight facts

I'm curious too.

My school did a horrible walk today in remembrance where every student (600 of us) walked 500m (twice around the school building) to make every 5cm represent an individual in the Holocaust. This makes roughly 6 million people 'remembered.

Sig under construction.

I don't really know what you mean by ´unbiased´. There were nazi KZ camp, where the executed millions of people.

There is Autschwitz Report, whcih I found rather good, but it was written by prisoners at Autschwitz, so it might be biased.

Edit: If you want the other side, there is Deborah Lipstadt's Denying the Holocaust

Here is a book. http://www.amazon.com/Debating-Holocaust-Look-Both-Sides/dp/1591480051. Also there was no good things about the Holocaust. None what so ever. 6 million Jews killed because of what exactly. To be fair the regular German soldiers had no idea about the holocaust camps.

Love cats and Linus. Check out linuscattips-fan-club. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Z9QDVn and Asus ROG Swift. I love anime as well. Check out Heaven Society heaven-society. My own personal giveaway thread http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/387856-evga-geforce-gtx-970-giveaway-presented-by-grimneo/.

"unbiased"

Do you understand how history works? Nothing is ever "unbiased" Who ever wins writes history, not the loser. lol.

Also that movie is really good giving the point of view of the HC from the POV of a child.

Esp when the child ask why this is happening :)

There's no such thing as an unbiased history, of any event or period.

All true modern historians aim to write objectively, but still come with the baggage of personal human experience, academic commitments, emotion or biases. Academic disagreement persists over every field of study. Hence there is no objectively "correct" history, so don't expect to find one.

For high-quality material, I'd suggest the Cambridge Histories. If you're a student at a UK university you can likely access them as PDF files for free, if not, the books are sold on Amazon. They include chapters submitted by prominent historians in that field, so provide a range of perspectives on some recurring events or themes. I do not know if there's one published useful to you, so you'll need to look around.

(Histories online found here: http://universitypublishingonline.org/cambridge/histories/browse_by_subject.jsf?subjectCode=02&heading=British+History&tSort=title+closed&aSort=author+default_list&ySort=year+default_list )

Another good Cambridge resource are the Cambridge Companion series. (ie. "The Cambridge Companion to Tacitus"). Search google for those and search around again. Similar to the Cambridge Histories series.

Finally, the Oxford Handbook series is also very good. Take a look out for those.

History books are written by the victors.

You will not really see anyone defending any reason for the what the Germans did to the Jews.
