$200 for that crap is ridiculous. Is there anything similar for cheaper that doesn't suck?

Yes. Your smartphone.

You already have one. Doesn't suck.

It does suck. 20 minutes of battery life, constantly slow, old android versions. I only really use it on wifi to save money

Use whatever smartphone you have, that is if you have one.

If not, pick up a used iPod classic or something. They're fairly nice as MP3 players go.

well if that's the case wouldn't it be wiser to invest the money into a new Phone then, and solve both problems at once.

the only way that stupid Pono thing wouldent be useless is if it was as good as something like a Bowers and Wilkins system that fits into your pocket

Buying a standalone mp3 player nowdays is the most idiotic thing to do. Unless you're after some crazy audiophile quality or a feature, smartphones cant offer.

An iPod? I don't like to use my phone for listening to music because I'm afraid I'll drop it while working out but I use a older iPod and everything sounds fine. Right now on Amazon you can snatch the newest fanciest iPod for 204$ and the previous generation for a little bit less.

I had an iPod Nano 6th gen for a good long while, that stomps all over the Pono Player. My iPod Touch 4th gen is still chugging away, even though it's asking for a battery replacement at the moment, and that'll play for over a day, easily.

I mean, damn, they made that thing that huge and couldn't give it a substantial battery life? That's some bullshit right there. Where on earth is all that power going?
