I don't much care for the construction quality of most of mine.

my little ipod shuffle have passed 6 time in washer and dryer I stepped on it multiple time well the paint is off and it is now old steel style but it still work. electronics are really hard to kill if you don't short circuit them by powering them on

it tends to be pretty hard to measure voltages that can jump that sort of distance.... but tiny... probably not even milliamps

I have two Corsair Survivor Stealths that both have been thrue the wash multiple times and they are still good and are still at full speed. I can not recommend these flash drives enough, What I have done to these drives would have killed any other drive. I don't think Ill get any other flash drive.

Well then that's not even that big of a deal then. Amps and wattage is what kills. Volts can be super high or super low, but if the right amount of amps is present, it's completely harmless or can kill you instantly.

If you had put any measurable amount of energy into your iPhone, it would be a smouldering pile of metal and plastic.

I don't exactly understand what your point was?

A static discharge is under 40kv, that can fry electronics with picoamps, i hit my iphone with hundreds of thousands of volts probably microamps, the EMI and charge didnt fry it, i could make a high current transformer from a microwave transformer and put a few hundred amps through one, but all that would happen is the PCB would go pop, a guaranteed destruction.

Static discharge is also most damaging when directly discharged against a chip or the circuit board. I'm really not sure what your point is. The casing is most likely designed inherently to protect the insides of the device against static discharge and other forms of minor EMI.

So again, I'm really not sure what your point is. Perhaps you could be a little bit more clear and concise with what you're trying to say?

Generally if your electronics isn't powered when it has water on it (eg. By a battery) it will work even after water touches it

I too washed my cheapo Sandisk flash drive. Twice.

Still works.

This.

It happened to me and some friends as well, no damage, even if they were cheap flash drives you can find under 10€ :)

Water and electronics don't go well together?

I was surprised, myself, to see that no water got through the case.

The drive has zero electricity until its plugged in. As long as its dried before use it will be fine.

I know. I was more worried about not being able to dry it with the case being difficult to get off without breaking it.

Fair point. If you're super worried in cases like this, burying it in Rice is always a good trick, as it will help draw out all the moisture.
