Guys,

I got a GTX 980 G1 gaming. I will be running 4K screen first with just this one for now, but tell me - should I SLI later or should I upgrade to a GM200 card (later this year) if the rumored specs are correct?

You'll want two 980s for 4K ideally. And I can't see a single GM200 being enough for consistently good framerates either, let alone at a price that makes anything resembling sense. I might be wrong, of course, but I don't think so... obviously... otherwise I wouldn't have said that. ANYWAY. Yeah.

For some reason my G1 Gaming card boost a bit too high - about 1400MHz? And that's at 60 degrees C... at least that was on the 1st Heaven 4 test. 2nd one it boosted up to 1450MHz! I was like :o WHAT THE HELL?!

You know the VRAM doesn't stack right? You'll have 4GB regardless of how many cards you have.

Based on a recent GPU-Z screenshot a fully unlocked GM200 could be anywhere from 30-50% faster than a GTX 980. With 1.5x the performance of a GTX 980,  it's still not powerful enough to drive a 4K resolution as a single card in modern AAA titles with maxed out settings (even with no AA). So your best bet for now would be to SLI your 980.

Nooo! It's not an year.no. It will be 2016, but that doesn't mean it's Q1 or Q2 of the year, it might be Q3 again. That makes it an year and a half. Sorry but u see that games even now are capping it at 4gb on 4K, lol wait, not only 4K, 1080p too! (Shadow of Mordor). I know it does not stack and that's the biggest problem. Nvidia will be doing GM200 as next gen this year and next year is Pascal, but till then, don't u think that games won't get more demanding? And I don't mean more demanding for horse power, I mean for vram too.

I guess the best bet is actually to wait and see what will GM200 offer. if it offers the same crap 4GB Vram, then i will SLI it...but if there is 6 or 8, then it is going to be a better choice...

You can wait, but you will still need two GM200 cards in SLI to run 4K. GM200 will come with 6GB of VRAM stock.

Ok, ok. However let's see the VRAM AMD will put on their R9 390X then I will think about upgrading to GM200

It will probably have 8GB since they are on a 512 bit bus.

The more the better,

I want to ask however, If I can use an Nvidia card for PhysX. I mean, have the AMD one and a mid range Nvidia dedicated PhysX card. Does that work?

nope nVidia has disabled the PhysX feature with mixed GPUs

use your CPU for AMD setups
