Soundproofed Asus x99 Deluxe/XP491/5930K/32GB 2666Mhz

vneo

First custom build, always wanted a stylish, quiet PC. Modified the case, removed the HDD bay, larger holes for water cooling, various layers of soundproofing material, very very quiet when the fans are set to the correct speed, just need to figure out why Asus Xpert 3 doesn't remember the settings. No internal HDD, just the 512GB M.2 SSD. Will update when cabled into the desk and connected to monitors.

Asus x99 Deluxe

Intel 5930K

Asus GTX 980 - connects to 2 apple displayport monitors and LG 32 inch widescreen - painted white LED green removed using Dremel sanding disk - good clean result.

Noctua fans (painted matt black), used for case and rad

Corsair Dom Plat 32GB (8x4) 2666MHz - with lightbar and painted gloss white

Samsung XP941 512GB

Asus Thunderbolt Card - connected to Lacie thunderbolt RAID

Corsair H80i - mounting painted white, one of the quiet H80, I have another that makes an audible hum

Cooler Master V850 modular - was small enough to fit in case by millimetres

Yeah it's an inwin 904 case, very nice, solid construction with the added benefit it contains an inner and outer shell. So I removed the inside black steel shell to modify and fitted 12 mm soundproofing between the gap of the two case shells when re-fitting. The glass panels are thick and strong, on the other side to the motherboard is a good 1 to 2 cm space for all the cables over which I place another layer of soundproofing before re-fitting the glass panel. At low fan speed and low load CPU, temp hangs around 38 degrees C

Couldn't resist mirroring the car in the case glass :)

I have another inwin 904 case so open to suggestions on how to improve the build

Thanks for all the positive comments, researching this build I found myself watching various Linus videos, which bought me to this forum, a internet goldmine. It wasn't an overnight build finding the correct soundproof material, and a "all in one" CPU cooler that fitted the case, along with a PSU to fit the tight space. Would have liked to have routed the video power cables better, but didn't decided on a card until late in the build process. Not many cards have multiple mini display port outputs for Apple 27 inch monitors.

First results of SSD test are promising:

90mm fan on inside of case, H80 attached to outside and anther 90mm fan attached directly to H80 on opposite side in push/pull, not great but it fits and works. Just spent an hour trying to attach a thunderbolt drive that works fine on another Asus Z97 but the X99 just won't see it.

That is how that case especially, and windowed cases in general should be used.

Nice car too, a little ostentatious, but if you can do something, why not do it? ;)

Can't you buy an aluminum plate, drill some holls in it to cover that gutter up? Not that you would be looking at it 24/7

the gutter is covered by the panels you can just see in the photo leaning against the monitor, its just a tangle of cables that is impossible to keep neat
