I'd rec. something like this. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/c8Y3dC

It's the best i can do for the cash, and assides from the case & no monitor it's what i'll be building for a pal in a few weeks.

fx 6300

gtx 760

8gb 1866mhz ram

500w bronze 80+ psu

removing the keyboard still attached takes it down 40$, and it has room for upgrades.

Choose a Athlon 860k instead of the A10-7850K and bump up the graphicscard as much as possible.

choosing a APU for a gaming rig that is going to have a dedicated graphics card from the beginning is not worth it.

He wont necessarily need an SSD, yes they're nice but they're expensive and arnt a required component when you can do just fine without them.

But it makes a ton of difference and makes lower end hardware fell faster, plus a 280 is a beast compared to a 760 or 260x

The 280 alone is about as fast as the 760, the 280x yes, is much faster, but the 760 is solidly fast in gaming.

280 is faster than 760 by a little and kills the 260x

No doubt it slaughters the 260x xD I'd still have to rec. though the 760 over a standard 280 because of the lower tdp leaves room for a bigger cpu in the future w/o having to upgrade the 500W 80+b psu

Either of those builds will still run 1080p 60fps high, and medium high settings. Just counting on whether they dont want to touch their computer and not upgrade it for like 3 years or upgrade it in a year or two buy just picking up something like an 8320e or something.

A 280 or 760 and a quad core will slaughter games, and for $500 it's a no brainer

*and* a 240gb ssd? Get that one, get it right meow
