tbh logic can answer that more water in air is bad, high levels, so don't take your desktop into the shower...

I'd guess it would have to be so high that it condenses. I know that here in Ireland it gets quite high (80%) and I haven't had any problems.

If it doesn't condense then that's fine. That's why PC air conditioners won't be a thing unless the case is entirely airproof so that no humidity may enter.

If it condenses onto the windows (as in the things that open up into a magical real world) then it's fine because that's the indoor temperature clashing with the outdoor temperature, since the PC is staying at the same humidity as the rest of your room it won't condense inside the PC.

Unless your PC is suspended over a boiling kettle or a rice cooker, you'll be absolutely fine. Usually if you have good airflow, water won't condense quickly enough before just evaporating again.

How much of a threat to my computer is humidity? When I play games at night I will usually open my window and use a fan to suck in the cooler outside air. A lot of times this air is very humid because of where I live. Should I be worried that humid air is circulating inside my PC?

As long as your computer isn't colder than outside it won't condense.

I had a hard drive coaster which was empty, and just from the air inside it getting cooler and hotter it managed to corrode things over time.

humidity is only going to be a problem if your components are cooler than ambient temp.

Here in the South East USA it is incredibly humid all spring and summer, and most of the fall and even some days in winter, never had an issue with my computer and humidity, now I have had issues with my DSLR camera and humidity, mostly from coming from the cool ac in side to the 105 temps with dew points in the mid 80's out side and everything in the camera fogs up.

No idea what the hell a markiplier is, but my bedroom's humidity is currently at 60%, if that helps. It's actually a bit high considering the typical heat output of my computer. There have been times that my gaming has left my room around 25% humidity and I'm left with a sore throat for a few days. As far as a maximum goes, I don't think you'll have any issues unless you start to see regular condensation buildup in your house. There would probably need to be water dripping down your walls for there to be an issue.

Relative humidity isn't the best way to do this, it'd be a better idea to convert to humidity ratio (grams of water per kg dry air, i.e. actual moisture content) using a psychrometric chart, given the ambient temperature and relative humidity.

 

The problem with relative humidity is that it changes with temperature, even when the moisture content remains the same. At -10 degrees Celcius, you can have very high relative humidity like 100%, but it's the same humidity ratio as 30% relative humidity at 30 degrees Celcius, which is actually very dry.

I'd be more worried that pcb's with tons of tiny circuts sitting in a very humid environment could experience some swelling and contracting but I wouldnt think it'd be a big deal unless you were going back and forth with extreme humidity changes.  I'm pretty sure my asus board was bragging about having a humidity resistant PCB,  could be standard thou

I would only worry about this if my PC was outside.

As far as it stays in the room, its safe.

Basically its burning in my room but i refuse to open the window since i have read some articles that mention how humidity levels over 60% can cause corrosion and damage hardware. Right now the realtive humidity is at about 88%. Should I open my window?
