I remember that so clearly.

Was watching the news that night, waiting to see if i was getting evacuated, and for some reason it was on CTV Edmonton. I distinctly remember the news anchor talking about how amazing and heroic Edmontonians were for filling sandbags to PROTECT THEMSELVES AND NEIGHBORS. All the while literally airing clips of people in pickup trucks and backhoes pulling people out of chest deep rapids and off rooftops.
