Asus comes with a GeForce GTX 970 DirectCU Mini

It is a new mini itx graphics card that is suppose to compete with the Gigabyte GV-N970IXOC-4GD Mini itx card.

 

It has a tiny faster clock speed than the Gigabyte alternative. And a tiny faster memory clock.

But it doesn't fit every case, this cards are really aimed at compact itx cases, like for example Lian Li cases.

It even has a backplate which is a nice touch. Gigabyte's cooling solution looks to be better,IMO and I hate circular style fin array.

Looks like almost the exact same cooler as the ITX 760. Logan on TechSyndicate compared the ITX 760 against the Sapphire R9 285 ITX and the 760 ran a bit louder and hotter, so I wonder how this will compare to the Gygabyte ITX 970...

 

Glad to see powerful GPUs finally starting to shrink in size. I think this is going to be an increasing trend as efficiency improves with subsequent generations.

In a bid to be the first with a mini-ITX friendly graphics card based on the GeForce GTX 900 series, ASUS is giving final touches to the GeForce GTX 970 DirectCU Mini (model: GTX970-DCMOC-4GD5). At the surface, this card looks identical to the GTX 760 and GTX 670 DirectCU Mini graphics cards from the company, since it uses the same exact cooler. Under the hood is a swanky factory overclocked GeForce GTX 970 chip, with 1088 MHz core, 1228 MHz GPU Boost, and an untouched 7.00 GHz memory. The card features a solid matte back-plate. It draws power from a single 8-pin PCIe power connector. Display outputs include two dual-link DVI, and one each of HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.2 connectors. ASUS didn't reveal pricing or availability details.

I must say.. I love these small GPU's. Awesome for ITX/MItx builds which I'm dying to get. Is it a technical difficulty to make a GTX 980 Mini?
