Early 2000's trance?

Am I the only one who loves this magic to absolute death? ^3^

I personally prefer Electronic Music or EDM as an overall name for the different genres. Techno is kind of its own thing. Yea I know so is rock, but a lot of electronic music doesn't really fit in with techno. Take Drum and Bass or Jungle for example. Techno is kind of defined by the un tss un tss. Dubstep can't really be defined as techno imo either, it's closer to RnB or a rap beat than anything. Is rap techno to you? Everything they do comes from drum machines/ computers.

Just saying ^_^;

Personally I like anything on the harder spectrum of EDM but I do like other genres like Trance, and stuff. Electro Swing is a good one too, it's pretty infectious.

I use 'EDM' when I'm organizing my music library for stuff that doesn't really fall into any specific genre. Though I don't really like the term 'EDM' because it conjures images of crappy 'DJ's' turning knobs, jumping up and down and over commercialization, it's just easier to type 'EDM' than 'Electronic'..ha.

Also, dubstep (the original dubstep stuff, not crap Skrillex-type, robot sex/apocalypse noise-dubstep) has its roots in reggae/dub and drum & bass. Trap has taken more from hip-hop/RnB styles, but it also carries the dubstep 70/140bpm form as well. (Except for twerk shit...that's all ~90-100bpm. twerktwerktwerktwerk)

I never got that into trance, though I do like it. Of 'EDM' music, I mostly listen to, as I already mentioned, certain dubstep, trap, some house/deep house, and drum & bass.

Lol yea good point on that.

Yea I know there's the old dubstep, though I grew really tired of the same "wub wub wub wubwubwubwubwubwu wuuuub wubbb wubwbuwbuw wwwwwww" overlaid generically as a "remix" to damn near any acapella (surprisingly spell check doesn't like this word and I just woke up so screw spelling) and calling that dubstep. I kinda like the Downlink and Excision (or their Destroid "band" despite i'm pretty sure they're not doing a damn thing on stage. I know what those instruments can do, and i'm pretty sure they're not using them but for triggering clips in Abelton which is NOT playing live like they claim) sound of things, but only in moderation. Skrillex is overrated and I only like a couple of his tracks, at least now he's actually DJing live instead of using a laptop and a cheap MPC controller pretending to do something.

Never heard any twerk music, thank God, and yea Trap is closer to the hip-hop/ RnB than Dubstep is. But Dubstep still, to me at least, has that sort of flavor.

I just hope Hardstyle, Happy Hardcore, and Hardcore (and anything else in that relm like Gabber and the like) stays on this cusp of "popular enough, but not popular enough for it to get integrated into pop and become shit". People always complain about the bassdrums in it saying I just listen to "BONK BONK BONK BONK" music, and I get that but, it's more about the synths and the melodies for me. I mean the four on the floor distorted basses add to the energy of it, but it's the synths that just grab me and take me on this awesome ride. hehe.

I hate subgenres, they're such a pain. I have like 20+ different subgenres of Electronic music on my computer. Seriously? Drumstep, drum 'n bass, glitch hop, dubstep, breaks, house, future bass, nu-disco, hardstyle, indie dance, trap, EDM, trance, etc. What is all this shit? And then there are sub-subgenres too (progressive house, electro house, deep house acid house). Why are there so many? Gah, my head hurts just thinking about it.  :blink:

Also, this isn't early 2000's trance, but I like it.
