Amazon or Newegg? Tell us about your experience.

SoftenButterCream

Just curious which one of these has the better customer experience for you guys? I personally am pissed off at amazon because my payment didn't pend yesterday and now its more expensive...

How about your experience?

I'm indifferent, I'll go with whatever is cheaper. I can say I've had great experiences with Newegg though. For example, I ordered a monitor with 4-7 day shipping and it took 2 business days to ship. This has happened quite a few times with them.

Haven't had a negative experience with either thankfully. As far as preference between the two I choose whichever has the better deal.

They both have OUTSTANDING customer experiences with returns, exchanges, etc. The only reason I like newegg more is because like @KingDaddyDaniel said, sales tax is ewww!

Haha, they seem to have a bigger selection as well

I have a very long purchase history for each one in the last ten years.

I'm tilted towards Amazon, though, mostly because of Smile.amazon.com and Prime shipping.

Amazon charges us Texans sales tax, so when it's not cost effective, I'll flip to Newegg and deal with the slow/free shipping.  But sometimes I deal with the sales tax because of Smile.amazon.com.

Amazon customer-service people have also always been gracious to help. (Or they fake it well.)  I've returned a couple things, and even let them know once or twice that a Prime shipment was late.  It's always handled in my favor.   I've never called them; I always use their web-based chat feature.

I still like Newegg and shop there frequently.  In fact, the R9 290 I ordered this morning is coming from Newegg.

Yea that kinda sucks that not all states gets the tax free from amazon.

I was disappointed when it was implemented (I think) last year.  But our sales tax isn't that bad, and Amazon's prices are still always cheaper than driving to a store for it. And still often cheaper than other online retailers.   This morning I also ordered my dad a C615 webcam from Amazon because it's cheaper there than everywhere else I looked by $10 or more.

Oh!   And Amazon also has gift-wrap.  I shelled over the $3.50 to have the cam wrapped.  My dad lives on the other side of the country, so having that service is a bonus.  Not a large one, but still pretty nice.

I've only used Newegg for my tech related stuff so my vote goes for them. Never had a problem with anything they've shipped me.

I always choose newegg since Amazon charges sales tax to Texas. Plus newegg ships quickly here and has the most painless returns I have ever dealt with online. Probably not as quickly as amazon now though since we have a huge Amazon warehouse about 10 miles away from me now.

Well I'm not picky mainly what ever has the product for the cheapest like I might go to amazon for something because their stuff is usually good but if they don't have what I'm looking for I'll go to Tiger Direct and if they don't have it then i'll Google it and then go under shopping.

But I always always always goto Amazon first always.

I don't use either. I did order from Amazon, once, 4 years ago. Ordered a New item, received an obviously Used item... would never order from them again.

I've had great experiences with both Newegg and Amazon. I buy from newegg if it's a special or something on sale, but I mostly go with Amazon because I have a prime membership and it's nice to have two day shipping.

Usually New egg if the item I'm buying has ShopRunner 2-Day (got like a year or two of free shoprunner for having my friends make 5+ purchases during the trial). Newegg charges tax in my state which blows hard.... Amazon does on some items I've found. I have prime, but if I have the choice, I go Newegg usually. Amazon is really good with returns and Newegg is fast at replacing DOA stuff, so...

I'll give my hypothesis as to why they do that. They give you the worse case scenario so that in the event it takes less time, you're overjoyed when you receive the product early. That's simply my tin foil hat conspiracy theory.

I haven't ordered PC parts online in ages but when I did it was from Newegg. I find it far more convenient to just do price comparing at my local Microcenter now. No shipping and store pickup so I'm in and out in less than 8 minutes worse case scenario.
