[google fiber] You live in Austin, TX? FREE INTERNET for you.

Misanthrope

Why? Because F other ISPs that's why. In all seriously though you do have to pay a 1 time fee of 300 bucks and you can finance that as well, oh and for 70 bucks it's gigabit internet so there's that too

2014-11-24_21-36-49.png

The promised 1Gbps service will be available for $70 per month -- those who opt for the plan will also get 1TB of cloud storage across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google+ photos. Google is also offering a $130 combo pack that includes gigabit-speed Internet service, 1TB cloud storage, as well as over 150 TV channels, and the ability to record up to 8 shows at once.

The TV bundle deal is just not that good but well, even if there was no 70/m plan I'd still pay 130 GB for gigabit ethernet. Incidentally I'll marry any forum member from Austin that helps me get a green card to move there.

5 mbps is pretty slow, so I would much rather pay the $70 for full gigabit. I live in Austin BTW.

Here in Burlington we've got Burlington Telecom, which has asynchronous gigabit for $99 a month.

Except, they don't service us yet because we have underground wires. So we have no choice but Comcast.

$70 per month for internet?  No.  I don't care how fast it is as my magic price for internet is $29.95 to $49.95 or so.  Now I hope Google comes here though cuz I like the free 5/1 internet which is basically what I have right now and I am paying $50 including tax for it.

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

Yeah but you gotta remember your options like the throttling motherfuckers at Comcast and Verizon as the "alternatives" and such. Sadly this is a good offer by comparison. But yeah I get 20/5mbps for like 30 bucks and we're supposed to be the third world poor neighbor and somehow we're beating the average US ISPs

I just realized under Gigabit, they spelled Mbps wrong. It's Mbps, not Mpbs.

They have the shittiest customer service and the Internet went down every day. They have the biggest monopoly I've seen in many counties here. I'm glad I moved to the *city* where I can at least get AT&T (I get around 7/.6 for much cheaper/more reliable). They're supposed to be rolling out fiber every where here pretty soon, I'll believe it when I see it though.
