That is pretty cool, so I could use my parents 27 inch 1440p iMac as a monitor?

Yes but you have to use a thunderbolt equipped mac / laptop / pc (windows pcs with thunderbolt DO work but are not 100% plug and play)

If I'm correct, the iMac doesn't have a 10 bit panel.

Your wrong both this and the imac use the exact same panel.

Yeah It does

Amazing this monitor costs as much as the iMac, really amazing value from Apple

IKR, normally apple and value don't go together in the same sentence unless "bad" is before value

It's a real shame it's an MST display. That's the only true issue I have it with. I hope it doesn't mean that color calibration has issues due to the two panels inside of it. It's impossible to get a 100% uniform calibration on multiple displays, I really hope there isn't a chance of issues there for professionals.

I dont' think they have a choice. Apple can correct the problem, as they can overclock DisplayPort to make it support 5K, at the cost of cable length, as the iMac, well, the panel is right next to the GPU. Here, Dell has no choice to use 2x DisplayPort, until new DP 1.3 compatible GPUs comes out.

Sadly, the GeForce 900 series is only DisplayPort 1.2 is I am not mistaken.

That's true. 1.3 is still slated for sometime next year.

I hope it's adoption rate is fast though, it's long over due.

We won't know how well Dell's MST display is until it's released and detailed reviews are out though. I just hope there isn't any colour uniformity issues for professionals. :(

Until 1.3 arrives and is adopted well, we'll not see 5K displays really take off.
