Dell showed off some new and announced monitors in China

Dell held a press event on thursday. 18 Sept, in Beijing China. Besides showing off those announced monitors, they also showed off several new monitors.

First, they showed off the 34" 21:9 curve U3415W, and the 5K UP2715K, which had been announced previously, and will be available by the end this year.

Then Dell revealed 2 new 4K monitors, P2715Q and P2415Q. As the name suggested, P2715Q is a 27" monitor, while the P2415Q is a 24" monitor. Unlike the P2815Q, they probably will run 4K in 60Hz, as they both featured a mini displayport, a DisplayPort 1.2 port, usb 3.0 hubs, and a HDMI-MHL port. They also support 99% sRGB  color coverage, and a less than 3 Delta E value.

Finally Dell showed off the S2715H and S2415H, which are 27" and 24" Full HD monitors with a viewing angle of 178 degrees. Like the U2414H and U2415, they both featured a slim bezel. (The bezels on these two monitors are  6.05mm in exact) They also have a VGA port and a HDMI (support MHL) port, and a headphone jack. The difference between the 2 monitors, besides the size difference, is that the 27" features 2 9W speaker, and a 2 ports usb 2.0 hub, while the 24" only features 2 3W speaker, and no usb hub.

I was unable to find any news articles about this press event, which mentions the price and availability of these new monitors (except the U3415W and UP2715K, which the U3415W will be available in China on Nov, and globally on Dec, with price unannounced; while the UP2715K will be available in the fourth quarter this year, with a price tag of $2,499.99 )

*Please forgive my stupidity, as I was just reminded by others that the s2715H and S2415H has already been announced in China...

is there any demand for it ?

Oh God..24" 60Hz 4k panel...

And those thin bezel 1920x1080 monitors are gorgeous as well. It sucks that they lack in features somewhat(no USB hub on the 24", displayport), but they seem pretty perfect for a single monitor use unless you want to run some adapters to convert DP and/or DVI to HDMI for surround gaming.

I think once again I'm going Dell for my 4k upgrade. Already have their U2312HM and would love a 4k from them. Then I can use my 1080p from them as a secondary instead of my 1440x900 Viewsonic!

4K is Quad 1080p, 5K is Quad QHD aka 2560x1440.

Great scaling for people that want 4 times the space from 1440p. :)

Creative people always want more, along with enthusiasts.

The main issue is the current 5K display uses DisplayPort 1.2, so needs two cables plugged in with MST.

They should have waited for DP1.3 which is now finalised, it allows up to 8K support over a single cable.

That 34" looks really good. Not quite as good as LG's own two versions, but still very good. Now if only they could make a new version with Adaptive Sync, I would be all over it.

Photo editing could use monitor with more pixels. A 4K monitor has only 8 megapixel. Whlie some high end DSLR, like the Nikon D800/810, Sony A7R have 36 megapixel. We shall soon see cameras with 50 megapixel. So 5K, even 8K is not too much for some enthusiasts and professional photographers.

Will be like the next 2560x1440 when 4k becomes the new 1080p

Dell has had a 24" 4k ips monitor for quite awhile now u can get it for like $600 of ebay brand new.

Its uses an lg panel and it was announced before lgs new curved 21:9 which will be using the same panel as this dell one theres no difference between the two...

So it seems like the U2414H is better than the S2315H?

I was talking about the looks of the monitor, not the panel, because those are the same, as you say.

I just wish Dell would have taken the opportunity to make it an Adaptive Sync monitor, so they could differentiate a bit.

Is it so much to ask for a decent 1440p monitor capable of 60hz for less than $300 USD, or a 144hz 1080p monitor for less than $200?
