Reliable internet connection for 1200 hours straight? I wish you luck my friend.

So long as you're not running a benchmark, or other intensive process for 40 days straight, you should be good. My old pre-built ran for, more or less, 10 years straight with little downtime.

By then, Windows will probably insist on updating and force a restart. Turn off automatic updates for a while. My record was just under a month before one day it simply restarted on its own due to updates. Or a spike in power network that causes a quick restart, it's always something.

Maybe you'll be luckier.

your pc is going to work slower and slower over Time. Higher chances on ssd/hdd failure

For normal users, yes. That is a silly thing to do. But when you want to make a world record on something, you are not a normal user....

On topic: yes, it will be fine.

The real problem is how reliable the internet connection on both ends is. I expect a drop out to occur long before 40 days goes by.

50 day long Skype call....

Let's see.

Internet drops (* ahem Comcast *)

Skype crashes

Updates to all sorts of things

Power goes out (look out for the weather if you're gonna go into December....)

PC gets hot (get a normal house fan and blow it on the innards of the thing)

Still don't think it'll happen.
