Comcast Not Welcomed In Worcester, Massachusetts

GoodBytes

Due to a heavy complaints from its residence, the City Consil of Worcester, Massachusetts has declines permission for Comcast to get its license to provide it's services.

The City Council in Worcester, MA does not want Comcast coming anywhere near its residents. The cable company is seeking a license transfer from Charter as part of a customer swap that's tied to its purchase of Time Warner Cable, but the council is trying to block it.

"It's a terrible company," City Councilor Gary Rosen said after a vote last night, pointing to Comcast's "deplorable and substandard" customer service in other municipalities. "In my opinion, they should not be welcome in this city. Comcast is a wolf in wolf's clothing; it's that bad. They are awful, no doubt about it. Maybe we can't stop it, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't speak out."

Reports Arstechnica

However, the vote is advisory only. The decision is up to Edward M. Augustus Jr , City Manager. If no action is done by him today, Comcast will get it's license regardless. So I guess Comcast just needs to bribe 1 person.

I don't like Comcast either, but is having fewer internet provider options in an area ever really a good thing?

Although I've never had the pleasure of using Comcast's services, I've read from multiple sources that their practices are very degenerate. Competition is a good thing, however in this instance it would be better to hurt Comcast's business and prevent them from spreading like a disease.

Comcast's customer service is only rivaled or outdone by the US governments idea of customer service.

That's how bad they are

To be completely honest idk what I would say if Comcast came here, our only option is 5/1 DSL but it doesn't have some stupid ass download cap... honestly I'm screwed either way -_-

Good guy Worcester

Only in this regard. It's not a great city.

Also, they apparently think their police department needs an ice resurfacing machine.
